Job Overview
The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility manufactures critical aircraft components for the Airbus A350 XWB. As a Quality Technical Analyst, you will work on the shop floor and in the engineering lab to ensure compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform root‑cause analyses and recommend corrective actions to reduce or eliminate non‑conformance.
- Investigate defects from the shop floor to the engineering lab using various Root Cause Analysis tools.
- Interface with company employees, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements.
- Understand the build process, engineering drawings, and planning requirements to identify gaps or confirm alignment.
- Develop PFMEAs and control plans.
- Apply quality policies and practices to develop, document, and maintain quality systems and operating procedures.
- Create First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation for customer presentations and internal hardware.
- Review and inspect supplier‑related hardware and document FAI reports for internally produced hardware.
- Plan and coordinate manufacturing improvements, including hardware and tool acceptance, variability reduction, and assembly operations.
- Finalize First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and associated data collections.
- Perform design reviews to ensure that quality is engineered into the product and tools.
- Conduct configuration audits and reviews of products, tools, and processes.
- Compile, measure, and analyze process capability data, models, trend analyses, and risk assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in the aerospace and/or automotive industry preferred.
- At least 4‑6 years of manufacturing experience required.
- Must be willing to work second shift or weekend schedule (12‑hour shifts Friday–Sunday).
Physical Requirements
- Onsite: 100%
- Vision: Daily ability to read computer screens, documents, and engineering drawings.
- Hearing: Daily ability to participate in conversations and hear factory warnings.
- Speaking: Daily ability to converse, attend meetings, and provide information.
- Equipment Operation: Operate personal computers, phones, copies, fax machines, and office tools, including hydraulic lifts.
- Carrying: Weekly ability to carry items up to 30 lbs (14 kg).
- Lifting: Weekly ability to lift items up to 30 lbs (14 kg).
- Pushing/Pulling: Weekly ability to push/pull small office furniture and equipment.
- Sitting: Daily ability to sit for long periods in meetings or at a computer.
- Squatting/Kneeling: Weekly ability to squat or kneel to retrieve items from low shelving.
- Standing: Daily ability to stand during discussions in offices or on the production floor.
- Travel: 5% able to travel independently on short notice.
- Walking: Daily ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
- Personal Protective Equipment required: safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and protective gloves as required by site or customer site.
- PPE required: Safety glasses, bump caps, and safety‑toe shoes on the manufacturing floor.
Travel
5% domestic/international travel.
Communication Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to articulate complex issues to others.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters is essential.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills.
