Job Purpose The Quality Manager ensures the compliance, performance, and continuous improvement of the quality management system in order to guarantee customer satisfaction, risk control, and adherence to internal, regulatory, and normative requirements, while sustainably contributing to the company’s overall performance.
Principal Accountabilities
Escalate issues and halt production, block shipments, and recommend an additional control plan if a quality issue is detected. Derogation authority remains with the Quality Manager, particularly for CCPs (Critical Control Points), such as flavor compounds and residual solvents.
Manages the release of trials and informs the Industrialization department.
Manages the processing and follow-up of internal and external non-conformities (customers, stakeholders, and suppliers).
Responsible for the laboratory, food safety, their team, and metrology.
Has authority over the personnel under their responsibility and decision-making authority (activity stoppage, escalation, deployment of resources, etc.) in quality emergency and advises on decisions and actions related to the quality approach.
Leads and improves the QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment) culture.
Supports process and activity owners in analyzing, updating, and improving the effectiveness of their processes and activities.
Trains personnel through internal QHSE training programs.
Supports commercial teams in preparing client visits, handling non-conformities, and organizing FTS visits.
Participates in client visits when necessary.
Participates at the group level in various monthly review meetings, training sessions, and the implementation of new tools.
Ensures the site maintains compliance with group fundamentals.
Ensures the site maintains current certifications (IMS + audits).
Ensures appropriate organization for the proper functioning of the quality department (on-call duties and crisis management, including traceability tests).
Leads quality crisis management.
QUALITY MANAGEMENTPromote product quality awareness across all departments at the site.
Collaborates with other members of the group quality team.
Identifies and implements best practices.
Manages customer complaints internally in coordination with Production, R&D, Industrialization, and Customer Service
Root cause analysis
Definition and facilitation of associated action plans
Technical responses to Customer Service or R&D/Industrialization
Cost evaluation of claims
Occasional direct contact with customers
Manages internal and customer non-conformities and associated action plans
Manages supplier complaints and associated action plans
Manages stakeholder complaints and associated action plans
Conducts, internally or via Amcor centers of excellence laboratories, testing related to R&D / Industrialization studies (quality, food safety, bacteriology, etc.)
Leads and oversees:Quality performance indicators (QIFR, GQC, CRT, NCI – waste + Pareto, etc.)
Steering committees
Quality meetings
Contributes to the development of customer and supplier specifications in coordination with relevant teams and the group legal department
Responsible for the application of customer and supplier specifications and their translation into internal procedures
Records and processes warranty extension requests
Able to perform a traceability exercise
Ensures a backup organization for conducting traceability tests
Participates in site continuous improvement (CI) projects
Maintains tools for monitoring best practices (e.g., quality observation tools)
Analyzes and monitors quality deviations in raw materials
Supports teams during customer and supplier audits
Manages and enforces quality control standards and regulatory requirements
Ensures training and knowledge sharing on products and product quality control processes
Issues certificates of conformity
Identifies, defines, and monitors improvement opportunities and corrective actions
Leads QHSE committees to launch and track progress of these actions
Ensures compliance of manufactured products with customer, legal, and regulatory requirements
Validates credit notes related to customer complaints
Handles product quality issues with customers and suppliers
Monitors the effectiveness of subcontractor services under their responsibility
Participates in subcontractor tender processes under their responsibility
MANAGEMENT SYSTEMDevelop and continuously improve the Integrated Management System (IMS) to meet the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and BRCGS standards
Support process and activity owners in analyzing, updating, and improving the effectiveness of their processes and activities
Manage the document control system
Monitor, control, and audit subcontractors
Lead crisis management
Facilitate Quality, Hygiene, and Food Safety risk analyses
Organize and monitor external audits (ISO, BRC, FDA, customer audits, etc.) and internal audits
Audit subcontractors or service providers with an impact on quality and hygiene
Qualifications/Requirements5+ year’s management experience preferred.
BRC and ISO experience in packaging manufacturing is fundamental.
Qualifications and/or good experience in food contact substances and regulatory legislation for plastic packaging an advantage
