Public Policy Director, France
As Meta's products and services continue to play a significant role in the daily lives of people across France and Europe, policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders naturally wish to engage with us — and we with them. The Public Policy team manages these conversations, sharing information about the company's products and activities, responding to queries from policymakers and regulators, and providing input into the development of regulation — in service of Meta's mission to build the future of human connection and the technology that makes it possible.
We are looking for a Director of Public Policy for France who combines a deep knowledge of the French political and regulatory landscape with a passion for emerging technologies, proven experience influencing complex policy outcomes, and the ability to lead and develop a high‑performing team. France is a market of significant geopolitical weight that can individually shape EU‑wide decisions, particularly on AI, innovation, and digital regulation — making this a strategically critical role.
As the successful candidate, you will be part of a team that is dealing with some of the most important public policy challenges of our time, including AI governance, online safety, privacy and data protection, competition, intellectual property, and the role of technology in economic growth and democratic engagement.
- 15+ years of experience in public policy, government relations, regulatory affairs, or a related field, with significant experience in the French political and regulatory environment
- Proven track record of leading complex policy and advocacy campaigns with demonstrable impact at senior government and regulatory levels
- Deep understanding of the French political system, regulatory institutions, and legislative processes, as well as familiarity with EU policy‑making dynamics
- Full professional fluency in both French and English, as the role requires direct engagement with French policymakers and regulators as well as coordination with Meta's global English‑speaking teams
- Experience leading and managing teams
- Established network of relationships with senior political, regulatory, and industry stakeholders in France
- Evidence of strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and policy issues into clear, compelling positions
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of producing high‑quality position papers, speeches, and presentations
- Experience in working effectively in a fast‑paced, global environment, prioritizing competing workstreams based on impact, deadlines, and stakeholder needs across functions and geographies
- Demonstrated sound judgment and a consistent record of ethical decision‑making in politically sensitive environments
- Prior experience in a multinational technology company or similarly complex, fast‑moving organisation
- Advanced degree in Political Science, Law, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field
- Experience working across European markets or with EU institutions
- Experience in the technology sector or with technology‑related policy issues (AI, data, competition, IP, online safety)
- Track record of engaging effectively at CEO/ministerial level in France
- Demonstrated understanding of AI policy, digital regulation, and innovation frameworks
- Experience with French industry ecosystems (tech, telecoms, media, manufacturing)
- Experience in government, regulatory bodies, or with senior government institutions in France
