PT Faculty Pool – Electricity/Electrical

Long Beach City College (LBCC), a Hispanic‑serving institution, is committed to equitable student learning and achievement. We seek part‑time faculty to teach electrical courses on various campus locations, days, evenings, weekends, online, or off‑campus as needed.

Responsibilities

• Commit to student learning, community college mission, and diversity.
• Collaborate across disciplines, use student support resources, participate in committees and governance.
• Contribute to curriculum and program development.
• Teach courses such as IPC‑620 Cable Harness Fabrication and Inspection; Solar Installation, Design and Maintenance; DC Motors and Generators; AC backup power (diesel or CNG); AC motors and transformers theory; Title 24 lighting; Instrumentation.
• Create a dynamic learning environment, engage learners of diverse backgrounds, adapt pedagogy, self‑reflect, and assess learning.
• Integrate new technologies, interactive tools, and online courses.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Qualifications

• Minimum: either a bachelor’s degree and two years’ experience in the discipline; or an associate’s degree and six years’ experience; or equivalent, together with evidence of sensitivity, classroom management, and instruction to diverse students.
• Required background: 18 units of collegiate coursework meeting general education requirements in at least three of five areas; certificate in Electricity or Electrical Technology of at least 40 semester units, or completion of a state‑approved electrician apprenticeship or training program of ≥1,000 hours.
• Minimum six years’ residential, commercial, or industrial electrician work under NEC.
• Desirable: recent community‑college or lower‑division teaching experience; expertise in the subject areas; 10+ years of electrical experience under electrical code requirements.

• Official or unofficial transcripts (AA/AS, BA/BS, MA/MS, etc.) with conferral date on or before the deadline.
• For transcripts from abroad: evaluation by NACES or AICE.
• Supplemental equivalency application if qualifications are not met verbatim.
