About Distance

Distance Technologies is a dual use deep tech company building next generation AR display systems for defence and automotive. Our technology brings high performance, near eye optics and head up displays to vehicles and soldiers, helping operators see more, react faster and stay safer.

We are now expanding our presence in France and looking for a project lead to drive key integrations with major defence primes ahead of Eurosatory in June.

The mission

Your mission is to coordinate and execute the integration of our technology into French prime partner platforms in time for Eurosatory, so that Distance is seen as an easy, dependable and technically strong partner to work with.

You will be the central point of contact in France for integration topics, coordinating mechanics, electronics and software work between our French partners and our Helsinki headquarters.

What you will do

• Own and lead integration projects with one or two French primes from first technical discussions to working demonstrators for Eurosatory
• Translate partner requirements into clear tasks for mechanics, electronics and software, and keep everyone aligned on scope, timelines and responsibilities
• Run regular technical syncs with partner engineering teams in France and Distance teams in Helsinki
• Work hands on on selected integration tasks yourself, depending on your background for example wiring, simple mechanical adjustments, rigging, basic software configuration or test setups
• Track risks, issues and dependencies and keep both sides proactively informed
• Support on site installations, tests and demos at partner locations and customer events in France
• Contribute to building our longer term integration playbook for armoured vehicles and other defence platforms in France
• Based in Paris region or able to travel easily to Paris and partner sites in France
• Experience from defence, automotive or related vehicle integration projects
• Solid understanding of at least one of the following domains and familiarity with the others:

• Mechanical integration of hardware into vehicle platforms
• Electrical integration, wiring, power, connectors, EMC basics
• Software integration, networks, interfaces, configuration and basic testing

• Proven track record of leading technical projects with multiple stakeholders and fixed external deadlines
• Comfortable working as the main local representative for a foreign HQ, with a mix of doing and coordinating
• Native level French and very strong English, both spoken and written
• Able to work independently, manage your own schedule and keep momentum without heavy processes

Nice to have

• Background from a defence prime, systems integrator or armed forces
• Experience working with armoured vehicles, turrets, or mission systems
• Familiarity with AR, HUDs, optronics or display systems
