NDT (Non‑Destructive Testing) Project Engineer – Software, HMI & Programming
In this role, you will contribute to the development, qualification and deployment of advanced inspection solutions used in nuclear environments, combining engineering, software development, robotics and field support. You will report hierarchically to the Inspection Manager (France) and functionally to a Project Manager, and the role is based in Villejust (France).
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Development
- Conduct studies related to the development and implementation of NDT methods
- Design and develop robotic systems and HMI solutions for NDT applications
- Contribute to the development of digital tools and innovation initiatives
Testing & Qualification
- Lead and/or perform development and qualification testing of NDT processes
- Analyse results, ensure compliance and support continuous improvement
- Provide technical justification and validation of developed solutions
Documentation & Compliance
- Produce high‑quality technical documentation in French and English:
- Specifications
- Technical justifications
- Procedures
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements
Field Support & Operations
- Train field personnel ahead of nuclear plant operations
- Provide technical supervision during on‑site interventions
- Manage and resolve technical deviations during operations
Business Contribution
- Participate in tender preparation (technical and commercial proposals)
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of methods and tools
Accountabilities
- Ensure the technical quality and reliability of developed NDT solutions
- Deliver projects in compliance with safety, quality, cost and schedule requirements
- Guarantee proper execution of tests, qualifications and documentation
- Provide technical expertise to support operations and clients
- Contribute to the innovation and improvement of inspection technologies
Working Environment
- Based in Villejust (France)
- Regular travel to:
- Workshops
- Nuclear power plant sites (France and international)
- Client locations when required
- If required, working hours may include:
- Shift work
- Weekend work
Profile
Education
- Master’s degree (Engineering or equivalent) in a technical field
Experience
- Experience in industrial programming or software development applied to industrial processes
- Experience in robotics and automation systems
- Experience in visual inspection of welds (direct or remote) is highly valued
- Certification in VT and/or PT Level 2 required
- Additional ISO 9712 certifications (Level 2 or Level 3) are a plus
- Experience in the nuclear industry and/or with EDF is an advantage
Technical Skills
- Programming (industrial systems, HMI, automation)
- Robotics and system integration
- Knowledge of materials and physical measurements
- NDT methods and inspection processes
- Technical documentation and reporting
Languages
- Fluent French and English required
- German or Spanish is a plus
