Airswift is currently recruiting for a Project Cost Controller to join a leading Oil & Gas Operator supporting a major international LNG development project.
This role plays a critical part in managing and maintaining the project cost control framework, ensuring accurate forecasting, reporting, and alignment with financial objectives across a complex, multi-location project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Cost System Management
- Manage and maintain the project cost control system (U-Cost or equivalent)
- Act as focal point for SAP WBS creation and mapping with the cost control system
- Consolidate monthly project actual expenditure and align with Finance
- Support system users through training, guidance, and best practice sharing
- Propose improvements to cost coding structures and reporting processes
- Project Team Labor Cost Control
- Prepare, consolidate, and review project team labor cost budgets and forecasts
- Collaborate with HR on workforce planning and baseline tracking
- Perform intercompany labor cost calculations and reconciliations
- Cost Control & Budgeting
- Contribute to preparation of budgets for third-party services
- Support development and consolidation of annual and multi-year budgets
- Assist with contract variation assessments and cost impact analysis
- Identify cost trends, variances, and potential risks
- Maintain the Project Final Cost Estimate
- Reporting & Financial Coordination
- Prepare monthly cost reports with clear analysis and commentary
- Provide cost data to stakeholders (Partners, Shareholders, Group)
- Liaise closely with Finance on:
- Commitments and accrals
- Invoice processing and payments
- Claims and disputes
- Support SAP UNISOL inputs (cash calls, invoicing, schedules)
- Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to company procedures, SOX requirements, and Delegation of Authority
- Validate and approve invoices in line with contractual and internal processes
- Maintain strict confidentiality of cost and budget data
- Project Support & Continuous Improvement
- Report progress and escalate issues to the Cost Control Manager
- Support lessons learned initiatives and knowledge sharing across entities
- Contribute to continuous improvement of cost control tools and processes
Project Context
This position supports the Mozambique LNG Area 1 Project , following acquisition of Anadarko’s operating share in 2019. The role is part of a global project team spanning Paris, Milan, and Mozambique (Maputo & Afungi), with occasional travel required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or similar
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in cost control within major Oil & Gas projects
- Strong knowledge of:
- Budgeting & forecasting
- Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) & WBS
- Change management and contingency control
- Technical Skills
- SAP (UNISOL)
- U-Cost (or similar cost system)
- Advanced Excel
- Power BI
- Knowledge of procedures is a plus
