Production Planning & Lot-Control Lead

Why this work matters

Touchdown is engineering the manufacturing behind storage, memory systems, and other chips. This role helps turn a buyer's physical result into a qualified process or a defensible decision to use an existing supplier. Advanced packaging is our intended first fab class; no production fab is operating today.

Overview

You will make the planned route and actual movement of every lot understandable. The early work is a finite-capacity model for an authorized route, including queue times, shortages, rework, test, holds, and release. You will use measured cycle time and accepted-good output to make customer commitments, and expose when a partner route is the better choice.

What you will own

  • Plan small lots, dispatch, WIP, holds, changeovers, traceability, and shipping within qualified capacity.
  • Model capacity, dispatch rules, WIP, setup changes, queue time, and bottlenecks.
  • Schedule only qualified routes and maintain holds, traveler state, and material traceability.
  • Communicate realistic customer commitments from yield and cycle-time evidence.
  • Build a contingency plan for equipment downtime, supplier delay, low yield, and urgent customer changes.
  • Reconcile physical workpieces, digital lot status, scrap, samples, and shipment records at each handoff.

Technical territory

Travelers, dispatch rules, WIP, bottleneck analysis, queue-time limits, changeovers, inventory reconciliation, rework, hold codes, release authority, accepted-good yield, cycle time, and shipping handoff.

Representative outputs

  • A capacity and lot-flow plan that shows bottlenecks, holds, cycle time, and customer commitments.
  • A finite-capacity lot plan with bottleneck and contingency assumptions.
  • A dispatch and hold procedure with cycle-time and accepted-good reporting.
  • A weekly capacity and commitment review showing assumptions, risks, owner actions, and decision dates.

What success looks like

  • The plan exposes capacity limits instead of hiding them in dates.
  • Every lot has a valid status, owner, and next action.
  • A customer date can be traced to qualified capacity and a realistic accepted-good estimate.
  • Holds, rework, and losses remain visible through final reconciliation.

What you bring

  • Fab, OSAT, or precision-manufacturing planning and production control.
  • Planned lots in a fab, OSAT, or high-mix precision-manufacturing line.
  • Can operate production control with shortages, rework, and equipment downtime.
  • Can reconcile physical counts with system records and shipping status.
  • Can use actual cycle time and yield data to challenge an overcommitted production plan.
  • Can run disciplined lot handoffs among process, equipment, test, quality, and shipping teams.

Helpful experience

  • Pilot-line scheduling
  • MES and inventory-control integration
  • High-mix packaging flows
  • Finite-capacity scheduling
  • Cost per accepted unit analysis

How the role works

  • Applications are open; the exact work location, arrangement, compensation, and start date will be discussed during hiring.
  • Early work can produce engineering plans and partner comparisons. Hands-on work begins only at qualified, authorized facilities.
  • You will work with process, equipment, quality, test, customer, and supplier owners as the scope requires.
