Product Owner - internal tooling

The Role

Our teams, production technicians, biology scientists, bioinformaticians, and chemists, work with increasingly complex operational workflows. We build internal tools to support them: scheduling, equipment management, workload tracking, production dashboards. And we want to build them fast, with the best tools available today.

You’ll be our internal product engineer and vibe coder: someone who shops working apps quickly using Cursor, Claude Code, no-code and low-code platforms, and whatever gets the job done. You understand biotech workflows, you talk to users, you prototype in hours, not weeks, and you coach the team to become more autonomous along the way.

What You’ll Build

Concretely, you’ll tackle problems like:

  • Weekly task planning for our production and lab teams: who does what, when, with what resources
  • Equipment reservation scheduling access to fermenters, centrifuges, sequencers across teams
  • Team workload tracking visibility on bandwidth and priorities across the ops and lab groups
  • Procurement & inventory automations alerting, reordering, traceability
  • And whatever the next bottleneck turns out to be

The digital landscape you’ll work in

  • Pulse — our day-to-day scheduling app, built internally. Functional, but carries significant technical debt. You may rebuild parts, propose a different architecture, and develop new features.
  • Synapse — a Python-based mathematical model of our production pipeline, developed by our senior process engineer. You’ll work alongside it, not on it.
  • Benchling (ELN) — our electronic lab notebook, owned by the bioinformatics team. You’ll interface with it to pull operational data.
  • The missing pieces — cross-team KPI dashboards, data integration layers, workflow automations that don’t exist yet but should.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ship internal tools fast using Cursor or Claude Code, no-code and light custom code when needed
  • Talk to users first — interview teams, map workflows, identify the real pain before building
  • Iterate in production — deploy early, gather feedback, improve continuously
  • Coach and spread good practices — run sessions, write documentation, and help team members become autonomous on low-code and no-code tools
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools as our needs evolve

Qualifications

  • ProfileMaster 2 or final year of an engineering school: generalist, computer science, biotech, or similar
  • You’ve used Cursor or Claude Code and you’re comfortable building with AI assistance — or you’re eager to get up to speed fast
  • Familiar with no-code / low-code platforms (Airtable, Notion, Glide, Make, Softr…), you’ve shipped things real users depend on
  • Comfortable in a scientific environment, you don’t need to be a biologist, but you can understand how a production pipeline works and translate it into a tool
  • Strong product instinct, users first, iterate fast, care whether it actually solves the problem
  • Enjoy coaching and teaching, your goal is to make the team more autonomous, not dependent on you
  • Fluent in English; French is a strong plus
