Product Owner / GIS Business Analyst – Redesign and Evolution of a GIS – M/F

You will join Magellium Paris as part of the GIS Business Unit, which defines, designs, deploys, implements, and ensures the operational maintenance of GIS systems within the information systems of companies, local governments, and government agencies for various applications with geographic components.

As part of the expansion of our GIS operations, we are seeking an experienced Product Owner / GIS Business Analysis Consultant to support a strategic project to upgrade and redesign a geographic information system.

You will work as part of a project team, serving as a liaison between business, functional, and technical teams, during the scoping, design, and acceptance testing phases.

Your Assignment

As a GIS Project Manager/Business Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

• Gather and analyze the needs of users and business units;
• Participate in defining the functional scope of GIS developments;
• Translate business needs into functional requirements and features;
• Design functional solutions in collaboration with the technical teams;
• Draft detailed functional specifications;
• Help define and model geographic data;
• Develop strategies and specifications;
• Prepare, manage, and monitor the functional specifications for software development;
• Identify, classify, and track issues until they are resolved;
• Support the evolution of the existing GIS and the transition to a new open-source technology architecture;
• Help coordinate efforts among functional, technical, and business teams;
• Ensure that developments comply with the stated requirements and specifications;
• Participate in monitoring committees and provide regular reports on activities.

A rich GIS technical environment

• ESRI / ArcGIS
• QGIS

• Geospatial Data and Spatial Databases
• Geographic Data Formats and Projection Systems
• Data Modeling / MCD
• Agile Methods and Practices

Profile required

With a degree in geomatics, computer science, information systems, or a related field, you have at least 5 years of professional experience in GIS, ideally in roles such as Product Owner, Business Analyst, or GIS functional consultant.

You have proficiency in:

• The fundamental concepts of GIS and geospatial data;
• QGIS ;
• Data modeling and MCDs;
• Drafting functional specifications;
• The design and implementation of functional recipes;
• Agile Methods and Project Team Work.

You are comfortable communicating with both business users and developers and technical experts.

Knowledge of migration issues or GIS transformation — particularly from an ESRI environment to an open-source environment — would be particularly appreciated.
