Product Owner
Sentinel are working with a global leader in providing technology, software, and services to the construction and engineering sector.
We are looking for an experienced Product Owner to lead the evolution of a core digital commerce experience used by customers across multiple international markets.
The focus of this role is the product catalogue and navigation experience, helping customers discover, explore, and evaluate products through intuitive and effective digital journeys. Working closely with marketing, UX, analytics, and front-end development teams, you will identify opportunities to improve customer engagement, product discoverability, and commercial performance.
This role combines both product discovery and product delivery responsibilities. You'll help define which problems are worth solving, validate potential solutions through customer and business insights, and lead delivery through a dedicated front-end development team.
Acting as the bridge between business, customer, and technology stakeholders, you'll ensure digital experiences deliver value for customers while supporting broader commercial objectives.
Responsibilities
- Define and communicate the vision, roadmap, and success measures for catalogue and navigation experiences.
- Lead product discovery activities to identify customer needs, friction points, and opportunities for improvement.
- Use customer insights, behavioural data, analytics, and stakeholder feedback to inform prioritisation and decision-making.
- Partner with marketing teams to understand acquisition strategies, traffic sources, landing page performance, and conversion opportunities.
- Work closely with UX teams to improve product discovery, navigation, and overall customer experience.
- Collaborate with a dedicated front-end development team to translate ideas into scalable digital solutions.
- Own and prioritise the product backlog, balancing customer value, business impact, and delivery considerations.
- Define user stories, acceptance criteria, and product requirements.
- Drive experimentation, testing, and continuous optimisation across customer journeys.
- Monitor product performance and identify opportunities to improve engagement, findability, and conversion.
- Build alignment across business and technology stakeholders and communicate priorities, progress, and outcomes effectively.
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar digital product role, with experience delivering customer-facing digital products within eCommerce, digital commerce, or online platforms.
- Typically 5+ years of experience working within Agile product teams, balancing product discovery and product delivery responsibilities.
- Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of digital commerce performance drivers, including customer journeys, conversion funnels, customer feedback, and key eCommerce KPIs.
- Experience collaborating with marketing, commercial, customer experience, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities and drive measurable outcomes.
- Appreciation for UX principles and a genuine interest in creating intuitive, customer‑centric digital experiences that improve product discovery and engagement.
- Comfortable using data, analytics, customer insights, and experimentation to inform product decisions and prioritisation.
- Hands‑on experience with web analytics and testing tools such as Google Analytics and A/B testing platforms.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritise product backlogs, write clear user stories and acceptance criteria, and work effectively with development teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Experience using product delivery and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Tech‑savvy and confident working alongside front‑end development teams, without requiring a deep software engineering background.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the ability to align diverse groups around a shared product vision.
- Degree‑qualified or equivalent professional experience; an MBA or business‑focused qualification would be advantageous.
- Experience working within international and cross‑functional environments is advantageous.
What You'll Gain
This role offers the opportunity to shape a highly visible part of a global digital commerce experience, influencing how customers discover and engage with products at scale. You'll work across business, marketing, UX, analytics, and technology functions, combining strategic thinking with hands‑on product leadership to deliver meaningful customer and commercial outcomes.
