Vilmorin‑Mikado is specialized in the creation, production and marketing of vegetable and tree seeds and is entirely dedicated to agricultural professionals.

Job description

Crop Strategy

  • Orient research programs: recommend crop strategies and ensure execution across the Business Unit (ambition and market share targets; direction for marketing, research, seed tech and development; action plans, follow‑up and corrective actions).
  • Define strategic markets and product profile.
  • Animate Development and Sales teams to deliver the plan and support business activation.
  • Ensure growth and profitability of the crops through market share increase and new product launches.

Market intelligence

  • Maintain a deep and updated knowledge of the markets on your perimeter and define future trends and requests (agronomy, customers, consumers).
  • Animate the Development community on Market intelligence, including active benchmarking.

Lifecycle and Products’ management

  • Collaborate with other divisions to manage products' life cycle and product range worldwide, aiming for turnover and margin growth, with support from Production, Supply and Development departments.
  • Ensure successful launches of new varieties; coordinate and follow up development plans for new products with Breeders, the Supply and Development teams.
  • Recommend global positioning of varieties (targeted markets, rock‑bottom price per area, development targets in terms of countries and customers).
  • Define strategic varieties and co‑build and validate launching plans for new strategic products.
  • Supervise and challenge sales business plans and forecasts with leadership on Sales & Operations process; maintain proactivity on stock management and actively participate in production plans and excess management recommendation and follow‑up.
  • Be accountable for markets’ requirements in terms of quality and ensure their respect through Quality Chart.

Business outlooks

  • Be accountable for the overall profitability of the crops and drive strategy with a financial approach by monitoring costs, margin and inventory level through different KPIs.
  • Support Sales teams with appropriate recommendations in terms of Go‑to‑market approaches, added‑value pricing approaches, new concepts, commercial and technical information.

Innovation

  • Drive growth through innovation by developing new concepts and products in collaboration with Breeders and local Development & Sales teams.

Products’ Promotion

  • Define, plan and control implementation of the products’ promotional strategy for the crops, in consistency with the overall crop’s strategic plan.

What we expect of you

The candidate must have a Master degree in Agriculture or in Business. Acting frequently as a project leader, the person should have strong cross‑functional leadership, be a change agent, know how to motivate a team and have a strategic vision; and be ready to travel regularly (20% of the time). A good knowledge of the agribusiness and prior experience in strategic marketing is a significant plus. Minimum 5 years of experience is required.

  • Languages: Fluent in French and English (mandatory).
