Your role and responsibilities
In this role you will oversee ABB’s ANSI MV Metal‑clad Switchgear product line. You will manage the product offering throughout its lifecycle, in line with market needs and business line strategy and targets. You will be accountable for the long‑term profitable growth of the offering. You will support the business results by overseeing each step involved in the offering lifecycle, including development, launch, go‑to‑market, maintenance, pricing, and profitability.
The work model for the role is hybrid with at least 60% on‑site presence in our Mebane, NC plant.
Accountable for
- Leading a continuous business analysis of the existing portfolio and potential new portfolio items, including analysis of alternative investments, and reviewing potential partnering options.
- Defining brand and product portfolio offering and positioning in cases of multi‑brand ABB ownership.
- Analyzing the content of the portfolio continuously, focusing on potential new products and identifying the needs, opportunities, risks, and ABB’s positioning against the competition.
- Proposing and being directly involved in mergers and acquisitions and partnership activities, by defining the brand, offering portfolio, and related business strategies.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s or master’s in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent area of studies.
- Over 10 years of experience in an industrial environment in an engineering, product marketing, sales, or product management role.
- Basic knowledge of power distribution products, in particular medium voltage switchgear.
- Knowledge of air‑insulated switchgear construction and applications and differentiation with air‑insulated switchgear.
- A collaborative, solutions‑oriented approach with strong communication and customer relationship‑building skills.
- Self‑motivated and purposeful with analytical, logical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills, combined with an excellent style of collaboration.
- Assertiveness and ability to work in a virtual team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially with Excel.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% including internationally.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
