Process Engineer / Ingénieur(e) Procédé (H/F)
MAASH, founded in 2021 and based in Brussels, is an innovative biotechnology company developing sustainable mycoprotein-based protein alternatives for food and feed.
Through advanced fermentation processes, MAASH is helping to transform food production methods towards more sustainable solutions with a low environmental impact.
The company also has an industrial site in France, located on the Carling chemical platform (Moselle), dedicated to the development and production of its innovative ingredients.
The position
As the site's technical referent for production processes, you will manage the continuous improvement of our facilities, support the ramp-up of our industrial demonstrator and contribute to projects with high environmental and energy challenges.
You will work in a varied environment including:
- Effluent utilities and treatment
- Recycling and water management
- Material and energy balances
Your first missions
- Setting up and monitoring a pilot water recycling unit
- Carry out the technical and economic analysis of the envisaged solution and compare it to other existing solutions on the market
- Formulate recommendations for industrialization
Energy optimization
- Analyze the energy consumption of the process and identify sources of savings
- Propose and deploy optimization solutions (utilities, processes, energy recovery)
Commissioning of the industrial demonstrator
- Monitor and improve sterility performance; strengthen CIP/SIP strategies to reduce contamination risks
- Contribute to scale-ups of the Maash process
- Participate in the commissioning and management of the industrial demonstrator
- Be responsible for updating functional analyses and interface with the automation company or identified subcontractors to carry out PLC and DCS modifications.
- Support the ramp-up and reliability of processes
- Contribute to testing protocols and analysis of results
- Participate in obtaining FSCC22000 certifications
- Member of the HACCP team
Continuous improvement and process optimization
- Promote and manage the continuous improvement approach (yield, performance, safety, quality, environment, ergonomics)
- Detect, propose and implement improvement projects after validation
- Carry out improvement studies, write specifications and technical specifications, participate in investment studies and validate the performance obtained
- Provide technical assistance in the event of process drifts or malfunctions of installations
- Search for root causes (root cause trees, FMEA) and propose preventive and corrective actions
- Lead trials and verify the effectiveness of improvements in the field
- Create and maintain the technical documentation system (operating procedures, PID and PFD diagrams, functional analyses)
- Update automation functional analyses in conjunction with the automation engineer and/or subcontractors
- Maintain the plant's analytical control plan
Production monitoring & field support
- Participate in the monitoring of production compliance and the development of the factory balance sheet (material and energy balances)
- Animate the visual management and keep the indicators up to date
- Support and train production teams (training materials, skills matrices)
You hold a Bac +5 level diploma (engineer) in biological engineering, process engineering or equivalent
A first experience in the process industry (chemical, agri-food, biotechnology, energy or water treatment), experience on a production site is highly appreciated
Ideally, you have knowledge in the following areas:
- Process engineering and material/energy balances
- Water treatment and recycling, effluent and utility management
- Energy efficiency
- Techno-economic analysis and investment studies
- Reading and updating PID/PFD schematics
- Continuous improvement methods and FMEA
- Knowledge of bioprocess is a plus
- Bilingual English and TOEIC 800 minimum
