Summary of the role
The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining manufacturing processes to improve quality, productivity, efficiency, safety, and cost performance. The role involves analysing existing processes, identifying improvement opportunities, implementing solutions, and supporting production teams to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Process Improvement
Analyse manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
Develop and implement process optimization initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency.
Conduct process capability studies and data analysis to reduce variation and defects.
Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Production Support
Provide technical support to production teams for process-related issues.
Troubleshoot manufacturing problems and implement corrective actions.
Monitor process performance and ensure compliance with operational standards.
Support new product introduction (NPI) and production ramp-up activities.
Quality Management
Ensure processes meet product quality requirements and customer specifications.
Conduct root cause analysis on quality issues and implement preventive measures.
Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and control plans.
Participate in internal and external quality audits as required.
Project Management
Lead process improvement and cost reduction projects.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and R&D.
Manage equipment installation, validation, and process qualification activities.
Track project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
Health, Safety, and Environment
Ensure compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Conduct risk assessments for new processes and equipment.
Support environmental sustainability and waste reduction initiatives.
Promote a safe working culture within the manufacturing environment.
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare technical reports, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Monitor and report key process metrics and improvement results.
Maintain accurate records of process changes and engineering activities.
Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or process engineering environments.
Experience with continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
Experience in ISO-certified manufacturing environments is an advantage.
