About Dioxycle

Dioxycle is pioneering breakthrough carbon utilization technologies that convert industrial emissions into sustainable chemicals with unprecedented energy and cost efficiency. By displacing fossil fuels for the production of key chemicals, Dioxycle has the potential to ultimately reduce over 800 million tons of CO₂ per year, representing over 2% of the world's emissions.

At the core of our process is a novel carbon electrolyzer, a machine capable of using just electricity and water to convert carbon emissions back into valuable everyday essential chemicals. Our team is innovating across chemical, mechanical and system engineering to turn carbon transformation into an economically feasible, industrial reality through this completely novel technological approach. Having completed our industrial-scale electrolyzer prototype, we are now working with our chemical and downstream offtakers towards First‑of‑a‑kind plant deployment and subsequent commercial roll‑out.

We are supported by world‑class funders including Bill‑Gates‑foundered Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital and Gigascale Capital and have raised $40 million to date. We operate from two centers in Paris and California.

Your Mission

Dioxycle is seeking a highly skilled and hands‑on Process Development Engineer to join our team at a pivotal phase of transition from R&D to industrial piloting and early commercial deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Simulate, model, and optimize process flowsheets (notably using Aspen Plus) to support process design and de‑risking decisions
  • Benchmark and screen candidate technologies, and engage directly with technology suppliers to identify and validate the right solutions for our process
  • Scope, follow up, and steer external technical and experimental studies run by suppliers and engineering partners
  • Contribute hands‑on to pilot/skid‑scale experimental campaigns (e.g. purification skids, evaporators), particularly during peak testing periods
  • Work in close, day‑to‑day partnership with our principal process engineer lead to translate research‑stage thinking into industrially robust process designs
  • Bring an industrial/operations mindset to challenge and stress‑test process choices against real plant constraints

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of process engineering experience gained in an industrial setting (large industrial group strongly preferred)
  • Strong command of Aspen Plus for process simulation and optimization
  • Domain expertise in one or more of the following is a strong plus:
    • Liquid organic chemicals (alcohols, carboxylic acids) with experience in purification and separation processes, notably distillation columns
    • Syngas handling, treatment including PSA, cryogenic separation, drying
    • Ore refining/processing (lithium, nickel, bauxite) with experience extracting metal oxides from mined rock
  • Hands‑on comfort with experimental and pilot/skid‑scale work
  • Strong fluency in English, with the ability to work closely and effectively in a tight‑knit technical binôme
  • Good project management skills: planning, coordination, supplier follow‑up, and milestone tracking
  • A genuine appetite for moving from a paper‑based idea to real, industrial‑scale execution

Mindset we are looking for

  • Exemplary work ethic and self‑driven attitude: you get things done fast and to a high standard and you don't drop the ball
  • "Street‑smart": you don't take no for an answer and will figure out a way to solve anything with the means available
  • Commitment to the mission and ambition and to creating a kind, high‑performance and fun atmosphere at work (100% on‑site role)
  • Passion for innovation and problem‑solving attitude
  • Dedication to investing time and effort for the betterment of the team
  • Going the extra 20% that makes a good deliverable into an outstanding deliverable
  • Humble, low‑ego and curious

What We Have To Offer

  • Unique journey: early‑stage company with a world‑class team and a flat structure
  • Impact: building a product that will reshape century‑old industrial processes
  • People‑first: we love our people and encourage a supportive atmosphere
  • Feedback over ego: self‑improvement while helping others grow
  • International team: over 17 nationalities and many more to come
  • Fun: cultivating a great work atmosphere and organizing regular team events
  • Competitive compensation packages
  • Generous Employee Stock Ownership plans
  • Health insurance: medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Ergonomic work stations & state‑of‑the‑art equipment

Our process

  • An initial video call (20‑30 mins) with Grace, Director of People
  • Initial fit video call (30 mins) with Jonathan, Head of Process Development
  • Technical deep‑dive interview/case study by video call (1 hr‑1½ hrs) with Jonathan and Paul, Principal Process Engineer
  • Cofounder interview with Sarah, Co‑founder & CEO
  • Onsite interview including opportunity to tour our technology and meet the wider team
  • A series of reference calls with provided contacts
