Process Design Engineer - Global High Tech
We are looking for an experienced Process Design Engineer to join our Global High Tech (GHT) team. This role focuses on process design, technical solution development, proposal engineering, and engineering support for industrial water and wastewater treatment projects serving high‑tech industries.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing innovative water treatment solutions, preparing process designs and technical proposals, and supporting project execution activities throughout the project lifecycle. The position requires close collaboration with commercial, engineering, operations and customer teams to deliver reliable, sustainable and cost‑effective solutions for strategic Global High Tech customers.
Objectives
- Develop opportunities: Partner with the project development team to provide project engineering support by developing process flow sheets, preparing proposals & estimates, and providing technical/commercial support at client meetings.
- Process engineering and project support: Provide process engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, supporting the development of innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions for high‑tech industries. Work closely with project managers, engineering teams and suppliers to ensure technical requirements are translated into project execution, commissioning and start‑up activities.
- Support O&M team for troubleshooting and continuous improvement implementation in existing GHT contracts.
- Build long‑term relationships with internal and external customers, demonstrating high emotional intelligence.
Recommended Profile
- Education: Chemical / Environmental or Mechanical Engineering degree.
- Minimum 5‑10 years experience designing and supporting the sale of water and/or wastewater equipment and systems, including clarification, filtration, membrane separation, RO/UF, DAF, solids separation, metals removal and biological processes for industrial clients.
- Experience supporting project execution, commissioning, start‑up or delivery of industrial process projects preferred.
- Familiarity with water treatment plant commissioning and start‑up.
- Excellent communication skills in English and French/Spanish (fluent written and verbal).
- Team‑oriented, capable of working collaboratively.
- Strong commercial mindset and financial acumen.
- Synthesis and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time for discovery, cost‑basis development and presentations.
- High computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite, business systems, AutoCAD preferred).
Principal Accountabilities
- Functionally report within the Commercial Engineering organization to the GHT Engineering Manager.
- Be based in France (UK / Spain) and maintain regular contact with direct supervisors.
- Competent in a wide range of water treatment process technologies; design water treatment systems, prepare mass balances, flow sheets and equipment selections, and support commercial discussions.
- Familiar with engineering drawings (P&ID, general arrangement, isometric sketches, datasheets, troubleshooting lists, electrical and automation drawings).
- Analyze water and wastewater systems from mechanical, operational and chemical perspectives and propose compliance‑ready solutions.
- Proactively work with clients and internal colleagues to identify project needs and develop specifications.
- Supervise or take over on‑site surveys, conception and basic design to balance OPEX and CAPEX.
- Use technical expertise and financial acumen to support project qualification and allocate resources to high‑probability projects.
- Ensure projects fit within budget and address issues with peers or managers during execution.
- Communicate with various stakeholders including contractors and customers.
- Possess plant operation & maintenance experience, even limited.
- Maintain customer relationships and coordinate technical/business issue resolution and renewals within sold O&M accounts.
- Assist on existing O&M contracts for troubleshooting, diagnostics and improvement identification.
- Stay aware of international standards for equipment construction and certification, and of safety & environmental legislation.
