Probability theory is now a major field of mathematics, enjoying significant international prominence and playing a central role in numerous theoretical and applied developments. France holds a leading position in this field, with recognized contributions in statistical physics, percolation, particle systems, Brownian geometry, random media, random matrices, stochastic PDEs, and interactions between probability, analysis, and geometry. This field is distinguished by its ability to overcome fundamental scientific barriers while addressing modeling challenges in strategic sectors such as artificial intelligence, biology, health, the environment, and digital sciences. In a context marked by the growing importance of accounting for uncertainties, the creation of a Tenure Track position (CPJ) in probability has a strong structuring effect. It would help consolidate a field of excellence, enhance the CNRS's appeal and influence, and firmly position the institution at the forefront of high-potential scientific challenges.

The research laboratories listed all have active and dynamic teams working in the relevant fields. The successful candidate will contribute to the unit's research activities.

-This research project falls within the field of contemporary probability theory, an area undergoing significant theoretical renewal and increasingly interacting with numerous branches of mathematics and their applications. It aims to develop new tools for the study of complex random phenomena, drawing on recent advances in statistical physics, random media, particle systems, random matrices, and stochastic PDEs. Particular attention will be paid to the interactions between probability, analysis, geometry, and mathematical physics, as well as to modeling issues. The project is thus designed to address fundamental challenges and may lead to applications in statistics, biology, health, or digital sciences. Through its theoretical ambition, interdisciplinary scope, and potential to shape the field, it will contribute to sustainably enhancing the CNRS's visibility in a strategic area.

The successful candidate will teach advanced courses with a focus on mathematics. He or she may also be asked to offer interdisciplinary courses on topics related to the position's area of expertise.

The CNRS is developing a strong policy in favor of open science. Open science consists of making research results "as accessible as possible and closed as necessary". As such, the CNRS aims to make 100% of the texts of publications resulting from the work of its laboratories accessible , in particular through deposit in HAL. The data produced must also be made available and reusable, except for specific restrictions. In addition, the guiding principles of individual evaluation have been revised in accordance with the DORA declaration, to be more qualitative and to take into account all facets of the researcher's profession.

The dissemination of the results will be done through world-class scientific productions: publications, patents, software... In addition, the results will be communicated to various targets such as scientific communities, media, decision makers, general public, schools, etc., with an adapted calendar. Specific tools may be developed such as websites, newsletters, meetings, international symposia, summer schools and conferences.

The relationship between science and society is now recognized as a full dimension of scientific activity. The project will develop this dimension in synergy with all the partners. The resulting research work will contribute to informing public decision-making. Participatory science initiatives may be initiated with actors from the project's socio-economic and cultural eco-system.
