Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to support Mistral AI’s GDPR compliance strategy by partnering closely with product and engineering teams and drafting compliance documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Mistral AI’s compliance documentation (records of processing of personal data, data privacy impact assessments, internal policies, etc.)
- Answer and manage data subject requests; implement GDPR processes and automation
- Manage employee training on privacy topics
- Negotiate data processing agreements with providers and customers
- Monitor privacy regulations and supervisory authorities guidance or decisions
- Advise the product team on privacy topics concerning new features
- Answer privacy‑related questions from other teams
- Update the compliance documentation accordingly
Qualifications and Skills
- Background: Master degree in law; bar admission a plus; experience in a fast‑growing environment
- Experience: 3 to 5 years in a law firm or tech company, IT law and specifically privacy law and GDPR compliance
- Knowledge of privacy law: good knowledge of privacy regulations and guidance from national supervisory authorities as well as the EDPB
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence: understanding of AI technologies and their applications is essential
- Solution oriented approach: identify compliance issues and develop effective strategies to address and resolve them, implement practical solutions
- Project management: good project management skills
- Analytical Skills: analyze complex legal and technical issues related to AI and identify potential legal risks and solutions; detail‑oriented and strong problem‑solving skills
- Communication Skills: excellent written and verbal communication; present complex legal concepts clearly and understandably; business oriented
- International mindset: international experience a plus
- Adaptability: willing to continuously learn and update skills; work independently and in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment; proactive, flexible, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
