Principal Information Security Engineer
Summary
This role leads the definition and evolution of Amadeus’ internal IT security architecture and strategy. The position provides expert guidance on security design, risk management, compliance, and governance, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Acting as a technical leader, the Principal Functional Architect supports security‑focused projects, promotes best practices, reviews complex architectures, and advises stakeholders on implementing effective security controls while fostering security awareness across the organization.
Common accountabilities
- Demonstrates strong technical expertise to ensure the team performs at a high level; is recognized as a leader in their area of expertise and may formally train Specialists and Senior Specialists.
- Understands how key business drivers may impact their area; can assess complex problems with broad impact, improve processes, recommend solutions, and develop risk mitigation plans. Able to communicate complex information effectively.
- Works with a high level of autonomy, based on management direction; leads projects or contributes to broad cross‑functional initiatives; may contribute to resource and budget planning.
Specific accountabilities
- Leader in Internal IT Security reference architecture and strategy definition, design, support, and promotion.
- Coordinate the development, update, publication, and promotion of the Internal IT Security architecture and strategy.
- Ensure that the Internal IT Security architecture and strategy are aligned with Amadeus IT Group business objectives, legal, regulatory, contractual, and ethical requirements, risk appetite, and the Corporate Security Office and risk management framework.
- Initiate or support risk analyses, translating outcomes into security policies, requirements, standards, and a consistent and optimised set of security controls, particularly with respect to cost and effectiveness.
- Promote and support the adoption of the Internal IT Security architecture and strategy.
- Support the implementation of the Internal IT Security architecture strategy through expertise, design reviews and approvals, design adjustments, and ad‑hoc mitigation measures.
- Support new projects, initiatives, and business activities regarding Internal IT Security architecture and setup requirements. Support or lead the design of corresponding solutions and recommend alignment with the security reference architecture and associated security controls.
- Provide consultancy, guidance, and support on Internal IT Security architecture to other departments.
- Analyse and validate project compliance (architecture, design, and processes) with risk acceptance criteria, security policies, and standards at key stages of the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to the definition of Internal IT Security governance processes.
- Contribute to global security risk analysis by conducting, coordinating, or supporting security‑related risk analysis management activities.
- Contribute to the promotion of Internal IT Security awareness across the organisation.
