Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance and strategic support to clients in the utility sector facing civil litigation and other legal challenges.
  • Analyze complex legal issues, develop case strategies, and offer valuable insight to help clients navigate legal proceedings successfully.
  • Conduct in‑depth legal research and analysis related to utilities facing civil litigation matters.
  • Provide oversight, manage and execute deliverables for client engagement projects for utilities and other client types.
  • Develop and implement effective case strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, legal teams and other experts to help strengthen client deliverables and outcomes.
  • Provide expert witness testimony and analysis when required.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends impacting utilities litigation.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the utilities sector.
  • Frequently evaluate the performance of existing offerings, recommending adjustments or enhancements to optimize consulting market share.
  • Participate in networking events, conferences, and industry associations to promote the firm’s services.
  • Mentor and coach junior consultants, providing guidance and support to help them grow and develop professionally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Economics, Math, Finance, Business Administration, Law/Legal, or Political Science.
  • Juris Doctor (JD), Master’s Degree, MBA or PhD.
  • 10+ years’ experience in the energy utility space, either at a consulting firm, a utility, a public utilities commission, a Big‑4 accounting firm, an energy‑focused law firm or similar organizations.
  • Proven ability to generate consulting services sales and direct team‑based business development tasks.
  • Proven experience in leading the ideation, design, and implementation of new service offerings.
  • Experience writing or providing expert witness testimony for utility rate cases or other utility regulatory proceedings.
  • Very strong communication and presentation skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be able to present complex ideas and strategies to utility leadership.
  • Requires occasional travel to client sites and regulatory hearings, typically throughout the US and Canada.

Base salary for this role will typically start at $200,000 plus a competitive annual incentive compensation bonus.
