Position Overview
Power Plant Operator A – Everett, Washington. The role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating and maintaining power systems, including boilers and related auxiliary equipment. The operator monitors equipment, performs routine inspections, troubleshoots issues, and ensures compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Operate boilers, engines, and auxiliary equipment.
- Read gauges, meters, and charts to track boiler operations.
- Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels.
- Activate valves to adjust water, air, and fuel flow.
- Fire coal furnaces or feed boilers, using gas feeds or oil pumps.
- Inspect and maintain equipment for efficient operation.
- Check safety devices and perform routine environmental checks.
- Record data and maintain logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities.
Physical Demands
- Lifting weights ranging from 10–15 lb to 15–35 lb.
- Reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
- Working near metals, solvents, coolants, moving parts, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
- Adapting to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
- Using personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet.
Qualifications
- City of Seattle Steam Engineer's License Grade 2.
- Minimum of 3 years boiler operation and maintenance experience.
- Proficient in working at heights with fall protection equipment.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 35 lb frequently within an 8‑hour shift.
- Capability to stand, twist, bend, kneel, and crawl within an 8‑hour shift.
- Ability to work in noisy environments.
- High‑school graduate or GED required.
- Must be a US Person in accordance with 22 C.F.R. § 120.15.
Location & Shift
Onsite in Everett, Washington. This position is scheduled for the 4th shift.
