Principles of Electricity Market

• Familiar with the operational principles and market architecture of the integrated European electricity market.
• Familiar with the rules of Nordic and Western European electricity forward markets, spot markets, ancillary services markets, transmission right markets and capacity markets.
• Understand the basic operating principles of power systems.

Power Market Trading

• On the basis of a solid understanding of market rules, capable of formulating strategies to hedge against market volatility risks via forward and spot electricity trading instruments.
• Able to review trading results and propose improvement measures.
• Able to judge medium-term (monthly) and short-term (day-ahead) electricity price trends through quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Electricity Market Research & Insights

• Understand the basic operating principles and output characteristics of nuclear power, gas-fired power, hydro power, coal-fired power, wind power, photovoltaic power and battery energy storage.
• Able to identify favorable and unfavorable factors for the company from policies, market rules and professional institutional reports, and translate such findings into actionable measures.
• Understand the operation and mainstream profit models of market entities including BRP, BSP and RE in the electricity market, and able to put forward effective improvement measures for the company’s power marketing business.

Other Related Markets

• Know the operation mechanisms of the GO certificate market and the European carbon market.
• Know the operation mechanism of the retail market.

Other Role-related Responsibilities

• Undertake and complete other work reasonably assigned by the line manager or team lead, provided that such work is aligned with the role’s professional domain, job level, delegated authority and applicable company policies.
• Ensure timely response, effective delivery, necessary stakeholder coordination and appropriate documentation in relation to business changes, organizational arrangements, regulatory updates or project needs.

Other Role-related Deliverables

• Work outputs, task completion records, action tracking records, handover notes, project materials or other supporting documentation required for assigned role-related tasks, as applicable.

Your Profile

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electric Power Engineering, Energy Finance, Energy Management.

Language Requirements

• Ability to work effectively in English (written and spoken).
• Mandarin is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Python programming
• Basic understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs) and their core principles
