Position Available: Full-Time Postdoctoral Researcher (24 Months)

Research Area: Bacteriophage Engineering | Microbiology | Synthetic Biology | Antimicrobial Resistance | Biofilm Research

CY Cergy Paris Université (France) is inviting applications for a 24-month Postdoctoral Research Position in the ERRMECe Laboratory. The project focuses on developing genetically engineered bacteriophages to combat biofilm-associated Staphylococcus aureus infections by enhancing antibiofilm activity using clinically relevant Silviavirus bacteriophages. This research is supported through the PHAGOBOOST project under the France 2030 initiative.

Research Responsibilities

Develop genetic engineering strategies for bacteriophages while preserving phage fitness and stability.

Phage Genome Editing

Implement advanced genetic engineering tools for bacteriophage genome modification.

Antibiofilm Research

Evaluate the antibiofilm properties of genetically engineered bacteriophages using relevant experimental models.

Research Dissemination

Contribute to scientific publications, project reporting, and dissemination of research findings.

You hold a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Microbiology, Bioengineering, Synthetic Biology, or a related discipline.

You have a strong research record supported by peer-reviewed publications.

You possess excellent experimental skills in microbiology and molecular biology.

You have strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

You can work independently while contributing effectively within an international collaborative research environment.

What You’ll Gain

  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge bacteriophage engineering and antimicrobial research.
  • Access to unique therapeutic bacteriophage resources and international collaborations.
  • Research experience within leading French institutions including CIRI, Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL), BioCIS, and CY Cergy Paris Université.
  • Funding through the PHAGOBOOST project under the French Government’s France 2030 initiative.
