The Renewable Energy (EnR) team is looking for an associate or a principal (flexible, subject to quality of candidates) to join its portfolio management team, based in Paris. This role will benefit from significant exposure to the energy sector of several European countries, with funds invested across ten different countries and several renewable energy technologies.
Key Purpose of Role
- Support the Portfolio Management team, as well as members of the ENR deal teams and co-heads of the business unit, implementing best practices of portfolio management
- Proactively monitor fund performance KPIs and anticipate potential issues and opportunities to create value, either through questioning exit assumptions, guiding origination efforts or suggesting structuring alternatives
- Contribute to, and eventually lead, key workstreams during fundraising preparations, including due diligence questionnaires, pitchbooks, portfolio track record and bespoke portfolio analyses for LP requests
- Advocate formalised structured portfolio governance, ensuring regular, disciplined interactions with deal teams and senior leadership that reinforce high analytical standards in IC processes and ongoing portfolio reviews.
- Improve the quality, consistency and usability of portfolio data, supporting better capital allocation planning, investor communications, and strategic decision‑making at both fund and portfolio‑company level
- Actively support and seek to improve additional operational activities of the Portfolio Management Team, including LP reporting and presentations, quarterly valuation processes, LP event preparations, providing fund-level inputs to IC decisions and bespoke updates to the IC group, participating in and planning portfolio companies' Balance Score Card (BSC) discussions with managing partners, monitoring of fund capacity and capital deployment, etc.
- The role is supported by two analysts, and will be working side‑by‑side with current Portfolio Management Principal and reporting to the Head of Portfolio Management
Key Accountabilities / Outcomes
A successful candidate in this role will:
- Enhance portfolio oversight and decision quality , by embedding rigorous, structured portfolio management practices across Investment Committee processes, portfolio reviews, capital deployment planning and exit considerations.
- Proactively identify risks and value‑creation opportunities at fund and portfolio level , through disciplined monitoring of performance KPIs, critical challenge of assumptions, and targeted analytical support to deal teams and senior leadership.
- Deliver high‑quality fund‑level outputs for fundraising and investor engagement , contributing to (and over time leading) workstreams such as DDQs, pitch materials, portfolio track record analyses and bespoke LP requests.
- Act as a trusted portfolio management partner to deal teams and leadership , ensuring consistency, reliability and clarity of portfolio information across all governance, reporting and strategic touchpoints.
Skillsets and Competencies
To successfully achieve these objectives, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of private equity fund structures and portfolio dynamics, including exposure to portfolio monitoring, valuations, capital deployment and exit considerations; experience in infrastructure or power sector investing is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
- Excellent analytical and structuring capabilities, with the ability to synthesise complex portfolio data into clear, decision‑relevant insights for senior stakeholders and investors.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills , enabling the candidate to build credibility and effective working relationships with deal teams, Managing Partners and other senior leaders across the Omnes platform.
- High level of ownership, rigour and judgement, combined with the ability to operate effectively across multiple workstreams in a fast paced, collaborative and intellectually demanding environment.
- French and English language skills are required. Other languages a plus, but not necessary
Education and Experience
- Business or finance degree required
- Asset/Fund management background would be a plus, but not required
