Portal Product Owner EEG Business Applications

Position Overview

Our EEG Business Applications team is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Product Owner to join our team and play a crucial role in shaping the development and enhancement of our customer portal.The Product Owner is accountable for maximising the business value delivered by the portal and ensuring alignment between customer needs, business priorities and delivery capabilities.You will work closely together with the Head of Business Applications, who oversees the overall strategy and global roadmap.The portal serves Marlink's Energy, Enterprise and Government customers, providing access to business services, operational information and customer self-service capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Product Backlog Management:

• Ownership of the backlog.

• Define and prioritize user stories and features based on business priorities and requirements, taking into account architectural considerations and development requirements, in close collaboration with the technical team.

• Conduct backlog refinement sessions to ensure user stories and features are well-defined and ready for development.

• Provide clear and detailed specifications to the development team.

• Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure a deep understanding of technical aspects.

• Work closely with development teams to ensure timely and successful delivery of product features.

• Adjust priorities and backlog as needed based on changing business needs.

Requirement analysis & stakeholder management:

• Act as the liaison between the business unit, development teams and other involved teams.
• Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure alignment with business goals.

Portal Functional Scope & Integration Needs:

• Own the functional scope of the customer portal, ensuring that features support business priorities, customer needs and operational efficiency.
• Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Identify data, process and integration needs from a business and user perspective, in collaboration with technical teams.
• Work with stakeholders to clarify expected portal behaviours, user journeys, business rules and dependencies with internal systems.
• Support prioritisation of portal enhancements based on business value, user impact, feasibility and roadmap alignment.
• Ensure that integration-related requirements are clearly understood by technical teams, without owning the technical design or implementation.

Functional Documentation & Product Knowledge:

• Maintain clear and up-to-date functional documentation for portal features, user journeys, business rules and key processes.
• Ensure that requirements, decisions, acceptance criteria and scope changes are properly documented and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
• Contribute to user guides, release notes and communication materials to support adoption of new portal features.
• Ensure functional documentation remains aligned with the product backlog, roadmap and delivered features.
• Work with technical teams to ensure that functional documentation and technical documentation remain consistent where needed.

Solution Alignment & Feasibility Collaboration:

• Collaborate with the Solution Architect of the Business Unit, other Product Owners and development teams to ensure that proposed solutions support the functional vision and business objectives of the portal.
• Provide business context, user needs and prioritisation input to support solution design discussions.
• Help assess the functional impact of technical decisions, constraints or dependencies on the portal roadmap.
• Ensure that technical trade-offs are understood from a business and user perspective.
• Escalate risks, dependencies or scope impacts when they may affect delivery, user experience or business value.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UX/UI, QA, and DevOps, to deliver high-quality products.
• Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the development team.

Required Qualifications & Professional Skills

· Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.

· Proficient in written and spoken in both English and French at a professional level.

· Proven experience as a Product Owner in an IT environment, with a focus on customer portals.

· Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum or Kanban, and experience working in an Agile environment.

· Familiarity with relevant tools and technologies in the corporate applications and customer portals domain.

· Previous experience working on projects involving digital transformation.

• Experience or knowledge in UX/UI design and/or software development would be considered an asset.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
