Policy Analyst
Overview
The OECD Centre on Well-Being, Inclusion, Sustainability and Equal Opportunity (WISE) generates new data and policy approaches to improve people’s well‑being and reduce inequalities. WISE has two units that focus on child well‑being and on inequality and social mobility.
Job Description
WISE is looking for two Policy Analysts, one for the Child Well‑Being Unit and one for the Inequalities Unit. Candidates should express a clear interest in the unit they wish to join.
Responsibilities
Child Well‑Being Unit
- Develop data, indicators and analytical tools on child well‑being and policy, expanding the OECD Child Well‑Being Data Portal and Dashboard.
- Conduct research, generate insights and propose data solutions on themes such as the digital age, demographic change and climate change.
- Analyse policy challenges related to reducing child poverty and promoting child resilience, assessing benefits and costs.
- Provide recommendations on policy implementation, strengthening, monitoring and evaluation.
Inequalities Unit
- Develop data systems for inequality analysis, expanding existing databases and creating new data solutions.
- Research key inequality challenges including structural economic changes, demographic shifts, technology and policy environments.
- Analyse policy challenges and develop actionable recommendations on design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Communication and Liaison (both units)
- Produce and disseminate statistical papers, reports and briefing notes, ensuring quality and accessibility.
- Develop methods for presenting findings, including data visualisations, presentations and briefing notes.
- Build a network with OECD divisions, member and non‑member country administrations, national statistical offices, international organisations and academics.
- Stay abreast of policy and well‑being issues and promote the Directorate’s involvement in OECD initiatives.
- Organise or participate in workshops, conferences and expert groups.
Coordination and Staff Management (both units)
- Supervise junior colleagues and external consultants, monitor progress and conduct performance evaluations.
- Support staff development and encourage continuous skill building.
Qualifications
Academic Background
- Advanced university degree or equivalent in statistics, economics, econometrics or social sciences with a strong quantitative focus.
Professional Background
- 3–5 years of professional research and analysis experience in relevant areas, at national/international level, in an OECD‑type organisation or academia.
- Strong understanding of analytical and conceptual challenges for evidence creation.
- Experience with data management, indicator development and data visualisation.
- Advantageous: experience with administrative, geospatial or big data analysis.
- Experience presenting analytical results to diverse audiences.
- Experience working in multicultural teams and managing projects with internal and external stakeholders.

Languages
Fluency in one OECD official language (English or French) and a working knowledge of the other.
Contract and Salary
- Monthly salary starts at €6,975.54 plus allowances.
