Description of Work
Reporting directly to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor IV, the primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain, alter, and repair plumbing systems and components at the journey level of the plumbing trade. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Possessing working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of commercial plumbing, as well as safety precautions of the plumbing trade.
- Using power tools associated with plumbing trade, cutting and threading pipe, utilizing motorized and mechanical tools, and being familiar with building, life, and safety codes.
- Soldering copper pipe and utilizing the standard tools and materials required for those types of procedures.
- Making material list(s) for projects and submitting to supervisor for review.
- Making up lead joints and installing various types of plastic pipe, also knowledge in replacing stainless steel and porcelain plumbing fixtures.
- Supervising semi-skilled male offenders and subject to emergency call back.
Job Requirements
Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679
Necessary Special Qualifications: MAY require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the repair, replacement, or construction of piping systems.
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
