Platform Engineer (x/f/m) - Tech Foundations

Position

Platform Engineering / Infra Engineer – responsible for operating and evolving Alan’s cloud footprint, data platforms, observability, and cross‑cutting governance to enable product crews to ship features safely and quickly.

Scope & Responsibilities

• Own and evolve cloud foundations and multi‑cloud architecture, including Infrastructure‑as‑Code with Terraform / Terramate, and design decisions supporting international expansion.
• Operate and evolve data & application platforms: PostgreSQL/Aurora, event pipelines, async workloads, and database migration tooling, keeping complexity out of product code.
• Own platform uptime and latency SLOs, advance observability stacks, incident response processes, and maintain a shared on‑call rotation that scales sustainably.
• Governance & compliance enablement: manage infrastructure cost (FinOps), IAM posture, backup and disaster recovery, and automate reporting that scales.
• Integrate AI‑augmented infrastructure operations to support incident investigation, runbook execution, and toil reduction.

Focus for 2026

• Multi‑cloud expansion – revisit strategy and launch new geographies.
• Decoupling for scale – evolve service architecture to support growth from 1 M to 10 M members.
• Operational excellence – overhauls of observability, on‑call, and cost‑management practices.
• AI‑augmented infra ops – augment investigation, troubleshooting, and operational efficiency.

Experience Needed

• 3+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or equivalent.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).
• Comfortable coding for automation and tooling (API, internal CLI, developer portal) and willingness to use Python / TypeScript.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, alerting, or incident management tools.
• Ability to design and implement reliable infrastructure systems focused on reliability and observability.
• Capacity to maintain uptime targets while optimizing infrastructure costs.
• Background building and maintaining internal or external tooling for other engineers.

• Hands‑on – you ship code, deploy it, run it, and operate it.
• Enabler – measure impact by how fast product crews ship features without constantly consulting you.
• Create reusable patterns – guardrails, libraries, and abstractions that prevent outages and runaway cost.
• Fluent in English; French is not required.

Location & Remote Work

• Must be legally eligible to work in France, Belgium, or Spain.
• Remote work flexibility is offered, but in‑person collaboration is valued.
