Toyota’s VPE division prepares new vehicle models for mass production in Europe. As a Body Assembly Engineer, you translate design into feasible manufacturing processes, improve production methods, and support the introduction of new equipment across plants. The role requires engineering skills, experience with design/production tools, strong problem‑solving abilities, and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • You make the plastic injection mould design using CATIA and conduct tooling studies to determine if the new part shape is feasible.
  • You communicate required changes to the responsible part designer.
  • You determine injection molding filling concept using CAE tools such as Moldflow.
  • You create mould specifications and support toolmaker selection.
  • You lead mould design approval and instruct the toolmaker of any required changes.
  • You manage part quality improvement trials before mass production.
  • You set up the mould in the mass production machine and adjust the injection machine parameters.
  • You troubleshoot injection moulding problems, propose and implement appropriate countermeasures.
  • You specify new checking fixtures, part transfer equipment, robot attachments, etc., and support their implementation into mass production.
  • You benchmark new technologies and materials for injection molding, assess their benefits, and implement suitable ones into mass production.
  • Based at our branch office in Valenciennes, you will support new project introductions to TMMF and occasionally to other European manufacturing facilities.

Qualifications

  • You are fluent in English, the TME business language.
  • Minimum 2 years of university or engineering school experience in Materials Science, Mechanical Design, Plastics/Polymer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of injection molding process and equipment operation is an advantage.
  • Injection mould design skills are highly desirable.
  • Some know‑how of CATIA and Moldflow/Moldex or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Must be able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Self‑starter capable of working with minimal instruction or supervision.
  • Owner of a driving licence.
  • Flexible and willing to travel up to 10% internationally.
  • Open to an international assignment (Japan, North America or within Europe).
  • You are fluent in English and ideally French.
