Plant Purchasing Manager

Imerys is the world's leading supplier of mineral‑based specialty solutions. This role is based in central France and serves seven sites.

Job Summary

The Plant Purchasing Manager ensures compliance with Imerys purchasing and supply processes, collaborates with site operations, buyers and the shared supply hub. The manager creates and implements local sourcing strategy, manages tenders, negotiations and contracts in line with the company policy.

  • 7 plants in central France
  • Approx. 5000 orders per year
  • Spend on purchases: €50million
  • Number of suppliers: 930

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with purchasing procedures and supplier selection guidelines.
  • Collaborate with local procurer and the Procurement Hub on change management and implementation of best practices (P‑Cards, PR/PO/GR/SI processes).
  • Assume purchasing responsibility for local OPEX/CAPEX purchases and support the S2P process.
  • Lead RFQ preparation, negotiations, contract drafting and monitor supplier performance for categories such as industrial equipment, services, indirect, mining and laboratory studies.
  • Establish agreements with recurring suppliers and manage regional/national purchasing synergies.
  • Organise regular business reviews with local suppliers and monitor KPI performance (QCD).
  • Handle non‑conformities, action plans and conduct annual supplier performance evaluation.
  • Collect and report site financial performance, including target savings tracking.
  • Provide continuous process improvement and support users with procurement tools (SAP, Ivalua).

Job Specifications

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent (Bac +5) in purchasing or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial purchasing experience.
  • Fluency in French and English.

Hard Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Source‑to‑Contract and Procure‑to‑Pay processes.
  • Strategic sourcing and contract management expertise.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (Google Suite, Excel). Familiarity with SAP or Ivalua is an advantage.
  • Professional English communication skills.
