Piping Material Engineer / Layout Piping Coordinator (F/M)

Location: Rueil-Malmaison, France.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain updated Piping Material Specifications (PMS) for process and utility services, and Valve Material Specifications (VMS).
• Calculate pipe wall thickness and reinforcement pad requirements.
• Develop technical supply conditions for various piping materials.
• Check consistency of Bill of Material (BOM) issued from P&IDs and/or 3D model.
• Prepare Material Requisitions (MR) and evaluate vendor offers through Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE).
• Coordinate all technical queries related to procurement of piping items (pipes, fittings, bolts, nuts, gaskets, flanges, valves, specialty items).
• Review and approve vendor documentation related to piping components post‑order placement.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ASME, EN, DIN, ASTM, API, PED, etc.) and company Health, Safety and Environment policy.
• Work closely with 3D administrators for integration into modeling software (E3D or SP3D).
• Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
• Develop methods and standards for material activities and manage all related activities worldwide.
• When workload allows, act as Piping Coordinator: coordinate piping activity within projects, serve as main interface between piping, project managers and other disciplines, contribute to layout optimisation and ensure compliance with design constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 10‑15 years of experience in piping material engineering and/or project coordination related to piping systems.
• Fluent in French; proficient in English for technical documentation and international coordination.
• Availability for international business trips.
• Proficiency in software tools such as E3D or SP3D for 3D modelling.
• Experience in technical bid evaluation and post‑order vendor follow‑up.
• Strong knowledge of industrial codes (ASME B31.3, API, PED) and international standards.
• Strong leadership, coordination and problem‑solving skills; ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams; effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage subcontractors efficiently.
