The PhD thesis will take place in Toulouse within the MPN team at LAAS-CNRS, which offers a fabrication platform (cleanroom) and an electrical characterization platform (GHz VNA access), along with associated engineering support.

Development of an Electrochemical Measurement at the Limits for Biosensor Applications

Previous work has demonstrated the potential of electrochemical measurement using high-frequency (GHz) techniques, achieving faradaic current resolutions on the order of attoamperes (10^-18 A) (1-3). It has also been shown that measurement based on faradaic shot noise is possible (4). The challenge now is to transfer these techniques to a chip-compatible measurement system using a coplanar waveguide architecture, assess their sensitivities, evaluate the possibilities of combining them, and test them with real biological samples—going beyond simple proof-of-concept demonstrations on electrochemical entities without biological function.
