The Payroll Administrator will be the local representative of the Payroll Department for French payroll operations. In this role, the Payroll Administrator will be responsible for processing, reviewing, and auditing France payroll, prioritizing accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role will support French new-hire and employee lifecycle payroll requirements, partner with payroll vendor(s) on statutory reporting and filings, serve as a main point of contact for France payroll-related employee inquiries, and support Global Payroll leadership with French payroll law, local custom, and compliance research. While the primary focus will be French payroll, this position will also work with the rest of the EU payroll team to support payroll operations across other European and United Kingdom payrolls.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process, review, and audit primarily the France payroll but also assist with other payrolls across Europe, ensuring timely and accurate payroll output and compliance with French/local statutory requirements and company policy.
  • Partner with local HR and Talent Acquisition to facilitate the collection and processing of documentation required by company policy and French/EU regulations, including bank documents, social security information, tax information, right-to-work documentation where applicable, and other identification documentation required for compliance and payroll processing.
  • Coordinate French new-hire payroll requirements, including DPAE / pre-employment declaration support, employee payroll registration data, occupational health-related payroll inputs, and required employee file documentation.
  • Partner with payroll vendor(s) to facilitate timely and compliant filing for French statutory reporting and payments to local government agencies, including monthly DSN reporting, DSN event reporting, employee-level registrations, sick leave, maternity/paternity leave, work accident reporting, termination certificates, statistical reporting, surveys, and year-end reporting.
  • Review French pay slips and payroll outputs for accuracy, including gross-to-net calculations, employee and employer social contributions, income tax withholding at source, benefits, reimbursements, leave balances, overtime or other variable pay, and statutory presentation requirements.
  • Monitor, reconcile, and coordinate French payroll-related payments and filings, including social contributions, pension, health and welfare, unemployment, and tax withholding payments, working with Payroll, Finance, Treasury, Accounting, and payroll vendor(s).
  • Act as the main point of contact for France payroll-related employee inquiries, including questions related to pay, deductions, tax withholding, benefits, reimbursements, leave, and payroll timing.
  • Act as liaison with French payroll vendor(s), local HR, Finance, Legal, Tax, and local government agencies, where applicable.
  • Support Corporate Headquarters (based in US) with research on French/EU payroll laws, local payroll custom, statutory reporting, social charges, hiring formalities, and payroll compliance requirements.
  • Maintain payroll procedures, checklists, audit support, payroll controls, review signoffs, change reports, exception reports, and statutory filing confirmations.
  • Proactively and consistently identify and drive opportunities for improvement in payroll accuracy, controls, employee experience, vendor performance, and integration with HR, benefits, time, and finance systems.
  • Build strong and collaborative relationships with team members, business partners, and leaders to understand and ultimately resolve business challenges.
  • Show flexibility and adaptability in a quickly growing and changing environment.
  • Comfortable in a flexible working environment.
  • Partnerships with the payroll team and other business partners based in US often require work/communication across time zones.

EXPECTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Travel - Under 5%
  • Hours - 40, typically Monday - Friday

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Education - Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting, HR, or job-related field 4+ years Payroll experience, including at least 2+ years of hands-on France payroll processing or France payroll oversight.
  • Technology/Equipment - proficiency with payroll software, HRIS, Microsoft Excel, outsourced payroll provider portals, and payroll file review.
  • Payroll-related experience in France, including experience working with an outsourced French payroll provider.
  • Native French speaker and fluent English.
  • Proficient in French statu
