Payments & Marketplace Project Manager

6-month mission | Paris | Hybrid – approx. 50% onsite | French & English

The Mission:

We're looking for an experienced payments professional to support a major European retailer through the transformation of its e-commerce and marketplace payments environment.

At the heart of the mission is migration to a new strategic PSP platform — but the challenge goes considerably beyond switching providers.

The organisation operates a complex retail + marketplace model, where a single customer basket can contain its own products alongside multiple third-party sellers across different countries.

That creates some fascinating payment challenges:

How do you handle mixed and multi-seller baskets?

Partial captures?

Partial refunds?

And maintain transaction integrity from authorisation through to settlement and reconciliation?

We need someone who understands those questions and can translate them into clear business requirements and deliverable change.

What You'll Be Doing:

Working across Payments, Product, Finance, Fraud, Compliance, Technology and external payment partners, you will:

• Support the payments roadmap associated with the PSP migration.
• Map requirements across retail and marketplace payment journeys.
• Define requirements for EU and non-EU marketplace sellers.
• Analyse mixed-basket and multi-seller payment scenarios.
• Ensure seller and transaction data remains traceable throughout the payment lifecycle.
• Support authorisation, capture, cancellation, refund, clearing and reconciliation requirements.
• Define treatment of partial captures and partial refunds.
• Identify operational, financial, fraud and compliance impacts.
• Coordinate requirements across Product and feature teams.
• Engage with PSP, acquiring and payment-scheme stakeholders.
• Identify dependencies, risks and decisions required for successful delivery.

Payments Knowledge:

This requires considerably more than generic project management.

You'll ideally understand several of-

• E-commerce and marketplace payments
• PSPs, gateways and merchant acquiring
• Visa/Mastercard scheme environments
• Authorisation, capture, refunds and reversals
• Multi-seller and split-payment journeys
• Clearing, settlement and reconciliation
• Merchant descriptors and MCCs
• 3DS, tokenisation and PCI-DSS
• Fraud and chargebacks
• KYC/KYB and seller onboarding
• Payment reporting and transaction traceability

Experience within marketplaces, large e-commerce merchants, acquiring, PSPs or payment-platform migrations would be particularly relevant.

What We're Looking For:

You might currently be a Payments Project Manager, Payments Transformation Manager, Senior Payments Business Analyst or Marketplace Payments Specialist.

More important than title is your ability to combine payments expertise with structured delivery.

You'll bring:

• Strong requirements and analytical skills
• Cross-functional stakeholder management
• Ability to translate payments complexity into clear requirements
• Confidence challenging assumptions and identifying gaps
• A pragmatic, delivery-focused approach

Spanish and/or Portuguese would be advantageous.
