Job description

The Payment Group builds and operates the API-based banking products and platform that power cash collection, cash storage, and money movements for Swan’s financial products. The group aims to simplify money handling for Swan’s partners and end-users, including adopting new payment methods, reconciling entries, integrating with banks and financial partners globally, and addressing regulatory obligations.

The Payment Product team sits at the intersection of Strategy, Go-To-Market, Compliance, Risk, Data, and Engineering and oversees all stages of the product lifecycle—from discovery to release—while aligning with the company’s global strategy. The Payment Product team owns the payment product roadmap. The Payment Product Manager leads the strategy and roadmap for a key area of our payment banking product and is end-to-end accountable for success, including strategy, delivery, adoption, performance, and impact.

They develop scalable, high-impact solutions within the payment platform by collaborating with clients, internal teams, and financial providers to turn evolving specs into thoughtful product capabilities.

As a Product Manager Transaction Risk, you will own Swan’s transaction scoring engine—the signals, features, rules, machine learning models, and decisioning logic that protect Swan and its partners from fraud while keeping legitimate transactions flowing. You will report to a Payment Product Lead and be the end-to-end owner of transaction scoring risk performance: fraud detection rate, false positive rate, and the trade-off between them. The Head of Risk is accountable for the fraud framework and risk appetite; you are responsible for the day-to-day optimization loop.

Unlike other Product Managers at Swan, your closest build partner will be Data rather than an Engineering squad, with a dedicated data squad to build and run machine learning models as the scope grows. You will leverage AI to amplify your impact across discovery, specification, signal analysis, and operations automation.

What you’ll do

  • Own the transaction risk roadmap end-to-end . You are the single accountable owner of fraud detection on transactions—strategy, roadmap, delivery, and performance—across all payment flows (SEPA Credit Transfers, SEPA Direct Debits, card issuing and acceptance, etc.).

  • Push the Fraud Detection Rate/False Positive Rate frontier . Drive the iterative tuning of rules, features, signals, and machine learning models to maximize fraud detection within a capped false positive rate.

  • Measure before deciding . Partner with Data and Engineering to ensure flows emit the right signals and that decisions are measurable end-to-end.

  • Run the weekly Transaction Scoring Tuning loop . Collaborate with Flow Product Managers, Data Partners, and the FinCrime Lead to translate patterns (new scam techniques, mule behavior, fraudulent IBAN lists) into shipped rules and model updates quickly.

  • Implement AML-CFT and sanctions rules on the platform under the Compliance Team’s mandate; maintain up-to-date rules and monitor their performance, reducing false positives while maintaining detection.

  • Keep the platform consistent . Define signal taxonomy, data contracts, and change-management processes so flow-specific risk scores feed the Transaction Scoring engine cleanly.

  • Own external transaction monitoring . Manage external checks at transaction time that impact acceptance rate or UX; collaborate with providers to monitor and tune performance.

  • Make trade-offs explicit . Translate risk scores into concrete product actions (block, step-up, allow) and manage the balance between fraud losses, user friction, and operator load.

  • Make every decision auditable . Ensure rules, scores, signals, and decisions are traceable end-to-end for operations, FinCrime, Compliance, and post-mortems to reconstruct why a transaction was blocked, stepped-up, or allowed.

Preferred experience

  • 3+ years in Product Management with end-to-end lifecycle ownership, ideally on data-intensive or ML-powered products, or relevant risk/fraud strategy, data science, or fraud product experience in payments/Fintech/neo-banking.

  • Comfort with the Fraud Detection Rate/False Positive Rate trade-off . Experience shipping or tuning detection systems and instrumenting, A/B testing, and iteration.

  • Payments and fraud industry knowledge is a strong plus—card scheme rules, SEPA flows, scam typologies, AML-CFT basics.

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to become a subject-matter expert in complex products; comfortable with SQL/data tooling and AI-enabled investigation.

  • Tech-savvy with genuine passion for technology and product development.

  • Autonomous and comfortable using AI boldly to amplify impact; you drive and lead without waiting for an Engineering squad.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to coordinate and lead cross-functional teams across international contexts.

  • Adaptable to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment and comfortable operating under regulatory constraints.

  • Fluent in English; French is a plus

It’s okay if you don’t tick all the boxes—don’t let imposter syndrome prevent you from applying. If you’re interested, we encourage you to apply.

Recruitment process

  • 30-minute interview with a Talent Acquisition Specialist

  • 45-minute interview with the relevant Payment Product Lead

  • Take-home project/business case on a transaction scoring tuning problem

  • 30-minute presentation of the business case to the Payment Product Lead and senior leadership, followed by interviews

  • Final interview with the Chief Product Officer
