Job Summary
Airbus Commercial is looking for a Patent Attorney (d/f/m) to join our Intellectual Property (IP) department based in Toulouse, France or Ottobrun, Germany. The role focuses on strategic legal and technical advice to protect Airbus innovations, manage a diverse patent portfolio with emphasis on avionics, digital and artificial intelligence domains, and align IP assets with global commercial and technical strategies.

Responsibilities
- Lead the drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications
- Conduct inventor cross‑examinations and provide expert advice on patentability
- Under guidance of a Senior Patent Attorney, manage a broad portfolio to ensure geographical protection and alignment with the competitive landscape
- Prepare post‑grant revocation actions and support moderate‑risk IP litigation and pre‑dispute work
- Negotiate and draft IP‑centric agreements
- Manage IP predispute matters and claims, collaborating with legal teams on specialized contractual clauses
- Serve as focal point for internal functions (Engineering, Procurement, Programs), providing proactive, cost‑effective advice and IP education
Qualifications
- Fully qualified European Patent Attorney (EPA)
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in an IP department (industry or law firm)
- Experience in an industrial environment or the aerospace industry highly desirable
- Fluency in English at a negotiation level
- Ability to practice autonomously under EQE regulations
- Strong problem‑solving skills and capacity to propose creative solutions under pressure while meeting deadlines
- Experience managing outside counsel and leading IP training sessions
- Proven ability to handle IP matters/projects, build relationships with internal teams, and make daily portfolio decisions with sound technical judgment
