Job Description
Airbus Commercial is looking for a Patent Attorney (d/f/m) to join our Intellectual Property (IP) department based either in Toulouse, France or Ottobrun, Germany. The role involves providing strategic legal and technical advice to protect Airbus innovations and mitigate risk.

Responsibilities
- Lead the drafting, filing, and prosecution of patent applications; conduct inventor cross‑examinations and provide expert advice on patentability.
- Under the guidance of a Senior Patent Attorney, manage a broad portfolio, ensuring geographical protection and invention prioritization match the competitive landscape.
- Prepare post‑grant revocation actions and support moderate‑risk IP litigation and pre‑dispute work.
- Support the negotiation and drafting of IP‑centric agreements.
- Manage IP predispute matters and claims, collaborating with legal teams on specialized contractual clauses.
- Act as a focal point for internal functions (Engineering, Procurement, Programs), providing proactive, cost‑effective advice and IP education.
Qualifications
- Fully qualified European Patent Attorney (EPA).
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in an IP department (industry or law firm). Experience in an industrial environment or the aerospace industry is highly desirable.
- Negotiation‑level fluency in English.
- Ability to practice autonomously under EQE regulations; self‑starter who anticipates problems and proposes creative solutions to complex issues.
- Capable of working efficiently under pressure and meeting strict internal and external deadlines.
- Experience in managing outside counsel and leading IP training; proven ability to handle IP matters/projects and build strong relationships with internal teams.
- Handles daily portfolio decisions with sound technical judgment and escalates critical risks effectively.
