Packet Core Engineer

Overview

Within the Telecoms department, you will be the reference expert for Transatel’s mobile data core network. In close collaboration with the architects and as part of a team of expert engineers, you will be responsible for designing and documenting engineering solutions for data routing on our network. You will also work with project managers, operations teams and other engineers in the Telecoms department. You must have a strong command of Data core network architectures (MME/AMF, SGW/SMF, PGW/UPF, PCC, PCRF, OCS, RADIUS, DNS, etc.) for mobile networks, as well as IPv4/IPv6 technologies, and understand their implementation within our virtual operator core network. You will design and validate technical solutions that meet project requirements while ensuring the platform’s operability. You will document each topic and ensure knowledge transfer to the operations and support teams.

Requirements

• Degree in telecommunications or computer engineering
• 3 to 8 years of experience in telecommunications, notably with GGSN/PGW equipment
• Practical knowledge of IP routing and related protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc.)
• Strong understanding of GPRS/3G/4G/5G architectures and concepts
• Knowledge of protocols: GTP, Diameter, HTTP/2 and interfaces Gx, Gy, Gi, AAA (RADIUS), IMS, etc.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
• Availability for on-site travel if required
• Experience with IPv6, CGNAT and/or firewall technologies
• Experience with cloud deployments (Kubernetes, OCP, etc.)
• Ability to plan for industrialization of customer configurations (automation)
• Fluency in English is required for this position.
