Job Summary
The work of a Baggage System Operator (BSO) classification, depending on assignment, includes any or all the following: entering the baggage system to free baggage jams maintain the cleanliness of the immediate work area and bag room as required. BSO are responsible for the operation of the belt system. Must ensure proper spacing of bags and monitor the buildup of bags on the carousels. Must ensure that the bags are aligned as required and/or immediately clear any resulting jams. BSOs are responsible for the manual movement of baggage in the event of a system outage. The BSOs will be responsible for providing customer service while directing, handling passenger baggage, and ensuring that customer baggage is directed to the appropriate locations from stations in the Airport bag room.
Responsibilities
Check baggage into the system when received from interline or other input point of a baggage system which entails determining baggage destination and placement of a bar coded tag on the baggage
Ensures that baggage transport tubs are used and cleaned of previous bar-coded tags
