Operations Research Engineer
About Pelico We are building the factory of the future where disruptions are avoided, processes synchronized, and value captured. Our platform enables factory teams to be more agile and resilient in a world where supply chain disruptions occur every 16 minutes. Pelico empowers users to identify bottlenecks, avoid problems, and focus on innovation instead of fire‑fighting. Since our foundation in 2019, we have partnered with leaders across aerospace, industrial equipment, and luxury watchmaking, revolutionizing factory operations in over 15 countries, including Airbus, Safran, Cartier, Daikin, and Eaton.
Your Missions
- Translate complex, real‑world supply‑chain and production situations into formal optimization models—deciding what to capture, what to simplify, and what "good" means before reaching for a solver.
- Prototype and de‑risk. Explore competing approaches, build proofs of concept, and validate feasibility and value early to commit to directions that hold up and discard those that do not.
- Industrialize—make algorithms consumable. A model only creates value once it's served, integrated, and reliable. Work with software engineers to expose results, build data pipelines, and design outputs that can be consumed by the UI, human users, and agents on the Pelico orchestration platform.
- Own the trade‑offs. Navigate the tension between optimality, runtime/performance, and explainability—an optimal but opaque result will not be adopted.
- Earn adoption. Drive algorithms from "correct" to trusted: validate against baselines, agree on KPIs, and iterate when users challenge output. Acceptance is a deliverable, not an afterthought.
- Collaborate to obtain missing data and signals. Work across product, engineering, operations, and sometimes directly with customers to ship results into the product.
- Build for scale and impact. Design solutions that hold up in very large environments and keep them anchored to outcomes like revenue, OTD, and inventory costs.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Background in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent track record.
- Experience with production‐grade optimization (MILP/LP/CP).
- A strong sense of the precision, speed, and memory trade‑off and performance at large scale.
- Hands‑on coding in production (experience with Kotlin/JVM is a plus or a fast learner).
