Position Overview

The Operations Director is responsible for end‑to‑end operational excellence across the lifecycle of RFID hardware and tag products, from supplier sourcing and manufacturing through quality, logistics, and delivery to customers. This role ensures scalable, cost‑effective, and reliable operations, supporting growth, margin targets, and customer satisfaction in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the global operations strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage manufacturing operations (in‑house and/or contract manufacturers), including capacity planning, yield, scrap, and efficiency targets, process standardization and continuous improvement.
  • Handle supplier selection, qualification, dual‑sourcing, cost negotiations, and long‑term agreements while managing risk such as shortages, geopolitical disruptions, and lead times.
  • Own COGS, operational budgets, and productivity targets; drive cost‑reduction initiatives such as BOM optimization, sourcing leverage, and logistics optimization.
  • Implement and track KPIs such as inventory turns, manufacturing yield, and lead sales & operations planning (S&OP) to balance demand, supply, and inventory.
  • Ensure products meet quality, reliability, and regulatory requirements (CE, FCC, RoHS, REACH, ISO); oversee incoming, in‑process, and final quality controls, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and field quality issue analysis.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product Management to industrialize new hardware and tag products, ensuring Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT), managing transition from prototype → pilot → mass production.
  • Manage global logistics, warehousing, and distribution; optimize inventory levels while maintaining service levels and ensuring efficient order fulfillment and customer deliveries, including international shipments.
  • Lead and develop multi‑disciplinary teams (manufacturing, supply chain, quality, logistics); build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational rigor.
  • Work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Product Management, Finance, and Customer Support.

Essential Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in an operations role within a large‑volume hardware, electronics, or industrial devices company.
  • Experience in manufacturing (EMS/ODM or internal factories) and managing global supply chains.
  • Strong background in cost and margin objectives, and exposure to new product introduction and industrialization of hardware products.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and presentation skills in an international environment; proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of RFID technology and hardware is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities.
  • Ability to build trust and respect with staff and external stakeholders, and to manage project leaders in system engineering.
  • Understanding of budgeting, strategic planning, and budgeting processes.
  • Strong organizational, autonomous, team‑spirit, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with Oracle EBS is an advantage.
