In this role, you’ll explore and develop cutting-edge numerical techniques that directly influence the performance and reliability of massive AI models used across research and industry. You’ll work alongside experts in distributed systems, compilers, and machine learning to turn innovative mathematical ideas into real-world, high-performance solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Drive research and development in numerical algorithms to support efficient AI training and inference.
- Develop new approaches for sparse and low-rank computation, tensor decomposition, and precision management.
- Investigate techniques for quantization, dimensionality reduction, and stability optimization in large-scale systems.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and researchers to embed your work into production-level infrastructure.
- Contribute to academic and industrial impact through publications, open-source contributions, or technical innovation.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in numerical linear algebra, scientific computing, or applied mathematics.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing matrix or tensor-based algorithms.
- Excellent coding ability in Python and/or C++, with familiarity with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Ability to clearly communicate and document technical research; fluency in English is required.
- PhD (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- Research or engineering experience in:
- Sparse/dense numerical methods
- Mixed or adaptive precision computation
- Model compression or efficient AI representations
- Knowledge of AI compilers, GPU kernels, or HPC libraries (e.g., cuBLAS, CUTLASS).
- Track record of publications in top conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, SC, SIAM, etc.) is a plus.
