Night Shift (3rd shift) General Plant Maintenance Mechanic

Vulcan Materials Company is the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates and a major producer of aggregates‑based construction materials, including asphalt and ready‑mixed concrete.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety by prioritizing safety throughout the operation in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
• Repair and maintain plant equipment, including screen changes, conveyor belt repair and adjustment, wear parts replacement, crusher liner changes, and water pump service; perform cutting, grinding, and welding as required.
• Repair and maintain mobile equipment, performing minor repairs to front‑end wheel loaders and skid steers, and performing scheduled preventive maintenance.
• Inspect equipment and structures daily to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
• Monitor processes and materials in the aggregate crushing, washing, and screening areas to identify problems and ensure safety and materials compliance.
• Document and record information by entering and maintaining service and lubrication reports.
• Perform general physical activities such as cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials.
• Assist in railcar unloading, operating rail car movers, air‑actuated gates, monitoring unloading equipment, and setting handbrakes.

Qualifications

• Additional responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.
• Experience: Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry preferred.
• Knowledge of best practices: General principles and practices of industrial maintenance, construction, or aggregate production preferred.
• Flexibility: Must be able to work overtime and extended hours, work outside in all weather conditions, and tolerate loud noises.
• Mechanical skills: Knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
