Job Description

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a NH90 Vehicle Chief Engineering Project Manager & Major Incidents Focal point to join the Chief Engineering Department based in Marignane, France. The role is at the heart of the manufacturing of our NH90 helicopters.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support as Vehicle Project Manager, the definition and execution of NH90 vehicle related activities within the perimeter assigned to you.
  • Act as the NH90 continued airworthiness focal point.
  • Execution of contracted activities (in coordination with the contract owner)
  • Support to Offers
  • Sustainment activities (Obsolescence treatment, HAZMAT resolution, product improvements, Customer irritants resolution, continued airworthiness corrective actions, etc.)
  • Contribute to maintenance/availability improvement initiatives
  • Manage and coordinate assigned vehicle design developments from issue to fleet implementation.
  • Understand needs and constraints.
  • Define for related projects/changes the development logic, schedule and collect/consolidate the Non Recurring Cost quotations from the different contributors.
  • Support the related offer process and contracting of activities studies (as applicable)
  • Set up the project involving all relevant representatives
  • Budget and resource planning for the commissioned projects with the relevant specialist departments in accordance with the project planning.
  • Plan and perform project reviews (KOs, PDRs, CDRs, TRRs, FQRs and QRs) with relevant representatives from industry and customers.
  • Manage risks and opportunities (incl. related mitigation plans definition and execution)
  • Project coordination within AH with NH90 program, Chief Engineering, Purchasing, Development, Test, Qualification, Production and Support departments at the various locations of AH, NHI and Partner Companies.
  • Continuously track project progress and costs based on agreed milestones.
  • Ensure timely technical decisions and arbitration, reaching agreed milestones in terms of quality and costs.
  • Communicate project status regularly to NH90 program, Chief Engineering, NHI and partner companies.
  • Serve as central focal point within Chief Engineering for relevant projects and, if necessary, for suppliers and authorities.
  • Identify possible improvement areas (product or process related) and propose improvement actions.
  • Provide support to the continued airworthiness team (including support, SDR, quality, SB team, experts) during unsafe/major/MTOI incidents root cause identification and protective measures definition & implementation.
  • Follow up with all relevant stakeholders the unsafe/major/MTOI incidents resolution in time from the occurrence report (ISIR, QIR, FIR, AQ) up to corrective measures implementation.
  • Act as central coordinator for all continued airworthiness-related matters as CE representative in: the participation of all Major Incident Technical Boards (elec, engine, rotors...), the validation of the protective/corrective measures defined, the signing of the Technical Synthesis Report, the validation of the SB protective measures.
  • Lead and report to the NH90 chief engineer the overall engineering project activities implementation.
  • Participate and report about regular follow-up meetings with NHI (Unsafe, Major, Top20).
  • Manage complex international multi-partner, multi-cultural organization/environment.
  • Address wide and complex technical scope affecting multiple different NH90 variants.

Your Profile

  • Professional experience: At least 5 to 10 years (experienced) in engineering. Project Management experience is a plus.
  • Education: Master degree (or equivalent) in aeronautics, engineering or related discipline.
  • Technical competences: Good knowledge of helicopter systems, architecture and related operational missions/environments with a plus for military systems/missions. Specific knowledge on Vehicle systems is a plus.
  • Soft skills/behaviours:
    • Excellent team player with good interpersonal and communication skills to function effectively in an international multi-cultural environment.
    • Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong leadership skills and ability to synthesize issues and give meaning to align all contributors.
    • Experience in briefing both internal and external customers.
    • New ways key behaviors: Welcome problems, as needed on a daily basis to move projects forward + accountability.
    • Technical curiosity, rigor, and ability to efficiently work together in a plateau organization.
  • Language skills: English negotiation (verbal and written), French is a plus.
  • Tools/SW: Ability to work with Office and Google SW tools (planning, presentations, reporting, etc.).
