NH90 Vehicle Chief Engineering Project Manager &Major Incidents Focal Point (m/f) – Marignane, France.

Job Summary

The role requires leading and supporting vehicle‑related activities for the NH90 helicopter within the Chief Engineering Department. The incumbent also serves as the focal point for continued airworthiness and major incident management, coordinating across Airbus Helicopters, NHIndustries, and partner companies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition and execution of NH90 vehicle activities assigned to the Vehicle MAS.
• Act as the NH90 continued airworthiness focal point, supporting the airworthiness team (SDR, quality, SB team, experts) through root‑cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
• Manage and coordinate vehicle design developments from issue identification to fleet deployment.
• Execute contracted activities in coordination with the contract owner.
• Support offers and sustainment activities, including obsolescence treatment, HAZMAT resolution, product improvement and customer irritants resolution.
• Contribute to maintenance/availability improvement initiatives.
• Define development logic, schedule, and cost estimates (Non‑Recurring Cost) for projects/changes.
• Support the offer process and contracting studies as required.
• Set up projects, involving all relevant representatives, and plan budgets and resources.
• Plan and conduct project reviews (KOs, PDRs, CDRs, TRRs, FQRs, QRs) with industry and customer representatives.
• Manage risks and opportunities, including mitigation plans.
• Coordinate the project within AH, NH90 program, Chief Engineering, purchasing, development, testing, qualification, production and support departments, and partner companies.
• Track progress and costs, ensuring compliance with milestones, quality, and cost objectives.
• Make timely technical decisions and arbitration.
• Communicate project status regularly to the NH90 program, Chief Engineering, NHI and partner companies.
• Serve as central focal point for suppliers and authorities, where necessary.
• Identify improvement areas (product or process) and propose actions.
• Support major incident management, including
  • Root‑cause identification and protective‑measure definition and implementation.
  • Follow‑up on Unsafe, Major and MTOI incidents from report to corrective‑measure implementation.
  • Act as CE representative in major incident technical boards, validate protective measures, sign the Technical Synthesis Report, validate SB measures.
  • Report to the NH90 chief engineer on overall engineering project activity implementation.
  • Participate in regular follow‑up meetings with NHI (Unsafe, Major, Top20).

Qualifications - Professional Experience

• At least 5–10years in engineering with project management experience considered a plus.
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in aeronautics, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of helicopter systems, architecture, and operational missions, with a preference for military systems.
• Specific knowledge of vehicle systems is an advantage.
• Excellent team‑player with strong interpersonal and communication skills in an international and multi‑cultural environment.
• Capacity to work under pressure in a demanding environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong leadership and synthesis skills.
• Experience briefing internal and external customers.
• Accountability, curiosity, technical rigor, and teamwork orientation.
• Negotiation‑level English; French is a plus.
• Proficiency with Office and Google tools for planning, presentations, and reporting.
