Network Security Engineer / Firewall Engineer

Employment Type: 2 years contract + Extension

We are seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer to join a public sector organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Setup, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot FortiGate Firewalls
• Setup, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Checkpoint Firewalls
• Setup, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco ACI environments
• Setup, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot F5 Load Balancers
• Setup, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Certes Technologies solutions
• Support implementation and troubleshooting of cloud networking technologies
• Manage firewall changes through established change management processes
• Work closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure secure network services
• Document changes, configurations, and operational procedures
• Participate in incident resolution and problem management activities
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including:
• IP addressing
• VLANs
• Experience working within large enterprise environments such as:
• Military/Defence
• Telecommunications/Service Providers
• Experience with Change Management processes and tools, particularly ServiceNow
• Knowledge of firewall rule lifecycle management, including request, implementation, review, and decommissioning
• Hands-on experience with:
• FortiGate Firewalls
• Checkpoint Firewalls
• Understanding of security governance, risk, and compliance principles
• Basic knowledge or experience of Cisco ACI
