Host Laboratory & Research Focus

We invite motivated early-stage researchers to join the UMR FARE (Fractionation of AgroResources and Environment), a joint research unit between INRAE and Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne. FARE is internationally recognized for its expertise in the biorefinery of lignocellulosic biomass and the eco-efficient valorization of agricultural co-products.

The lab’s mission is to develop innovative biotechnological strategies to transform plant biomass into high-value molecules using sustainable and integrated approaches. Our research focuses on:

  • Enzymatic and microbial fractionation of agro-industrial residues
  • Mechanistic studies of biomass degradation via microbial cooperation and novel enzymes
  • Development of efficient bioconversion pathways towards molecule sof high-addes values
  • Integration of molecular biology, microbiology, and bioinformatics tools

UMR FARE is deeply involved in national and European projects, and offers a multidisciplinary environment where academic rigor meets applied innovation, in line with global goals for a sustainable bioeconomy.

  • Access to state-of-the-art research platforms: molecular biology, microbial culturing, metabolite analysis, omics and computational biology
  • A collaborative ecosystem with strong industrial partnerships and links to international institutions
  • Personalized mentoring, career development, training in scientific communication, open science, and project management
  • Participation in secondments, symposia, and international workshops
  • A vibrant, interdisciplinary research culture encouraging creativity and autonomy

As a researcher at UMR FARE (Fractionation of AgroResources and Environment), I lead projects focused on the enzymatic and microbial valorization of lignocellulosic agro-residues. My scientific expertise lies in the mechanistic understanding of biomass degradation and the development of innovative bioconversion strategies to produce bio-based molecules such as methane, bioplastics, fermentable sugars, and enzymes. I work at the intersection of molecular biology, microbiology, and bioinformatics, and my research is embedded in a multidisciplinary and internationally connected environment. I actively collaborate with industrial and academic partners across Europe and participate in national and European research projects. As a supervisor, I have experience in mentoring Master’s and PhD students, with a strong emphasis on autonomy, scientific integrity, and career development. I offer personalized guidance and encourage international mobility, participation in conferences, and training in transversal skills.
