MRI Sequence Development Engineer (M/F)
About the Institution
The Institute of Myology, located in Paris at the heart of Europe’s largest hospital complex (Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital), was founded in 1996 at the initiative of the AFM-Téléthon. Its mission: to promote and advance myology as a clinical and scientific discipline. The Institute coordinates medical care, fundamental and applied research, clinical research, and teaching activities.Today: 300 muscle experts, 34,000 patient files, more than 6,000 consultations annually, a dedicated research center in myology, and a neuromuscular exploration center.
About the Position
The Institute of Myology is recruiting a MRI Sequence Development Engineer (M/F) on a fixed-term contract to join the Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy Laboratory within the Neuromuscular Evaluation and Exploration Center (CEEN).You will contribute to the development and validation of quantitative MRI and spectroscopy sequences on a small-animal MRI system (Bruker 7T), ensuring methodological consistency with human clinical approaches (Siemens 3T).This position plays a key role in the Institute’s strategic translational research activities.
Responsibilities
- Development of MRI Sequences: Analyze quantitative MRI methods used on the clinical system (Siemens 3T); adapt and implement these methods on the Bruker PharmaScan 7T small-animal system; program innovative sequences tailored to small-animal imaging constraints.
- Validation and Optimization: Perform experimental validations using test objects and phantoms; test and optimize acquisitions on healthy murine models; validate sequences on animal models with muscle alterations.
- Scientific Support and Collaboration: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team on data acquisition and analysis; contribute to technical and scientific documentation; ensure methodological consistency between animal and human studies.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree or Master’s degree (MSc) in physics, medical imaging, or a related field.- Certification in animal experimentation (Level II or equivalent) is a plus.
Required Skills
Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of NMR and MRI sequence development.
- Programming skills: C, C++, Python.
- Ability to analyze and adapt quantitative MRI methods to both Bruker (small animal) and Siemens (clinical) systems.
- Code structuring, validation, and documentation.
- Experimental protocol design: phantom studies, optimization on murine models.
- MRI data processing and analysis.
- Writing of technical and scientific documentation.
- Compliance with safety and animal experimentation regulations.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to project coordination.
- Professional English (minimum B2).
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and synthesis abilities.
- Teamwork and project management skills.
