The temporal dimension of our memory and cognitive functioning as a whole is a challenge of adaptation in a constantly accelerating world with multiple demands. These difficulties are exacerbated during aging and represent a challenge to maintaining autonomy as we grow older. The VRTIME project is developing an innovative research theme combining exploration and clinical applications: the use of virtual reality to study the perception and memory of time, a mechanism at the heart of normal and pathological functioning, yet traditionally under-studied due to assessment difficulties that immersive technology can overcome. The aim of this project is to evaluate the behavioral and cerebral changes in temporal cognition induced by immersion in virtual reality. Virtual reality data will be collected at the Caen Interdisciplinary Virtual Reality Center (CIREVE), the largest VR room dedicated to academic research in Europe. This collaboration offers numerous prospects, both in terms of studying different aspects of time in virtual reality and investigating the effect of pathologies on temporal processing.

This first postdoctoral researcher attached to the project will mainly be responsible to developing virtual reality environments, conducting experiments and must also have to analyse data, and disseminating results (conference presentations and manuscript publications).

The amount of remuneration for the postdoctoral researcher on contract will be from €2,550.00 gross per month, depending on experience.
